Get it? Because the name is unknown. The subject of this article has no official name.
The name currently in use is a fan designator; see below for more information.

A character of the day (often abbreviated as a COD or CotD, and also referred to as character of the week; Japanese: ゲストキャラ lit. guest character) is a fan-made term given to a human, and sometimes Pokémon, character in the Pokémon anime. This character appears in only one episode and is often, but not always, relatively unimportant to the series. Note that Gym Leaders, Frontier Brains, Elite Four members, or other characters that originate from the games (such as Bill) are not considered as characters of the day, even if they had appeared in one episode only.
