Feraligatr (Japanese: オーダイル Ordile) is a Water-type Pokémon.
It evolves from Croconaw starting at level 30. It is the final form of Totodile.
Biology
Physiology
Feraligatr are big, bulky Pokémon, more used for swimming than for walking on land. When this Pokémon does venture out of water, it crawls on all fours in order to move faster. However, when they are hunting or fighting, they are surprisingly agile and fast. The fact that Feraligatr are cold-blooded Pokémon means that they need to be where they can adjust their body temperatures accordingly. Feraligatr have large, powerful jaws which are able to cause heavy damage. Feraligatr also have large scales on its arms, tail, and legs, the latter of which give the appearance of pockets.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Feraligatr's jaws have the ability to lock in place like its pre-evolutions. In combination with their sheer muscle power, this ability can cause massive damage to a Pokémon.
Behavior
Habitat
Feraligatr are extremely rare in the wild. They live near water with the rest of their evolution family.
Diet
- Main article: Pokémon food
Feraligatr are card-carrying carnivores. Their preferred hunting method is to hide underwater with only eyes and nostrils above the surface, waiting for prey to come to the water's edge. They attack with a sudden burst of speed and clamp their powerful jaws down on a surprised victim before it has time to react. Once the Feraligatr bites it will lock its jaws, and the prey will be secured. Then, the Feraligatr will violently shake its head and begin to tear off chunks of its prey to swallow.
In the anime
Ash's Snorlax battled against a Feraligatr belonging to Raiden in the Sumo Conference in The Ring Masters.
Trinity battled a Feraligatr during the Whirl Cup in The Perfect Match.
A Feraligatr was also owned by Kinso in The Blue Badge of Courage.
A Feraligatr was used by one of the students of the Pokémon Trainer's School in Gonna Rule The School!.
Wani-Wani, now a Feraligatr, made a cameo in A Stand-Up Sit-Down.
Brock used a Feraligatr in the second leg of the Pokémon Triathlon in One Team, Two Team, Red Team, Blue Team.

Trivia
- Feraligatr is the tallest final form of a starter Pokémon standing an a impressive 7 feet and 7 inches (2.3 meters).
- Feraligatr is also the starter that reaches its final form the earliest, doing so at level 30. Coincidentally, Totodile evolves into its secondary form, Croconaw, at Level 18, the latest of any starter Pokémon, tied with Turtwig into Grotle.
- Feraligatr is also the heaviest fully evolved Water-type starter.
- The lack of a vowel between the T and R in Feraligatr is due to the ten character limit on Pokémon names, which also affects Victreebel.
- Most Pokémon have nearly identical back sprites in Generations II and III, but Feraligatr is one of the few Pokémon where that is not the case.
- Feraligatr is the only Pokémon to have more than four syllables in its name, with five.
Origin
Like Totodile and Croconaw, Feraligatr is a crocodylian. Appearance-wise, it's an alligator. It also, like Tyranitar, vaguely resembles Godzilla, who is more based off a crocodylian animal.
Name origin
Feraligatr draws its name from a combination of feral and alligator. Its Japanese name may contain 王 ō, king, 皇 ō, emperor, or 大 ō, large, and dile is a reference to crocodiles.
In other languages
- German: Impergator - Combination of imperial and alligator.
- French: Aligatueur - From alligator and tueur (killer).
- Korean: 장크로다일 Jangkeurodail
