- The Miltank dairy may be based on the MooMoo Farm in the games, though that is found to the west of Route 38 while the dairy in this episode is located just outside Goldenrod City.
- Milton states that the most important factor in winning a Gym Battle is defeating the Leader's best Pokémon in a fair match.
- Nurse Joy comments that sometimes trainers also need to recover after a tough match. This can be seen in Ash who briefly considers just returning to Pallet Town.
- Team Rocket states that the line for the Magnet Train ends at "a brick wall in Saffron City." In the games, it is used to travel between the aforementioned cities.
