Blizzard (Japanese: ふぶき Snowstorm) is a damage-dealing Ice-type move introduced in Generation I. It is TM14 in every generation so far.

Effect

Generation I

Blizzard does damage and has a 9.8% chance of freezing the target. It can't freeze a target that has a Substitute or already has a major status ailment. It has an accuracy of 89.5% in Generation I.

Generation II

Same as before, but 10% chance of freezing and 70% accuracy instead.

Generation IV

Blizzard has an accuracy of 100% if used while it is hailing. In Diamond and Pearl, it also has a 30% chance of bypassing Protect and Detect.

• Suicune is the only non-Ice-type to learn Blizzard naturally, but only in Pokémon Platinum. Prior to its release, all Pokémon that could learn Blizzard by leveling up were at least part-Ice-type.
