Heat Wave (Japanese: ねっぷう Hot Wind) is a damage-dealing Fire-type move introduced in Generation III.

Effect

Heat Wave inflicts damage and has a 10% chance of burning the target.

Heat Wave hits all opposing Pokémon in double battles. In a triple battle, Heat Wave will only hit opposing adjacent Pokémon.

• Many Flying-type Pokémon can learn Heat Wave by Platinum move tutor, due to Heat Wave's Japanese name being Hot Wind.
• With the exception of Mew, Arceus (without either a Flame Plate or a Sky Plate), and Smeargle, Vibrava and Flygon are the only Pokémon who can learn this move by tutoring that are neither Flying- nor Fire-type.
