For the two-hand move, Scraggy puts its hands together at its side and forms a yellow or light blue orb of energy in between them. It then jumps into the air and raises its hands above its head. When it does, the yellow or light blue orb grows larger. Scraggy then tosses the orb at the opponent. For the one-hand move, an orb grows in its hand until it's thrown it at the opponent. Additionally, in Commanding the Clubsplosion Crown!, Ash's Scraggy on one occasion conjures one orbs in each hand at the same time, and throws them simultaneously while performing a front flip. • Focus Blast is the only special Fighting-type move that has an accuracy lower than 100%.
• In the pre-release material of the Japanese versions of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, Focus Blast had a different animation: instead of "spreading" when it touched the opponent, it disintegrated.
• Focus Blast is the only special variant of Blizzard that was not lowered to 110 power in Generation VI.
• In an early trailer of Pokémon X and Y, Focus Blast's animation had a red background. In the final version, the background is blue.
• This move originated as an attack in the TCG.
