Crunch (Japanese: かみくだく Crunch) is a damage-dealing Dark-type move introduced in Generation II.

Generations II and III

Crunch does damage and has a 20% chance of lowering the target's Special Defense stat by one stage.

Crunch can be used as the second move of a Pokémon Contest combination, with the user gaining 1 bonus appeal point if Scary Face was used in the previous turn.

Generation IV onwards

Crunch is now a physical move and as a result now has a 20% chance of lowering the target's Defense stat by one stage.

When used by a Pokémon with Strong Jaw, its power is increased by 50%.
