Reversal (Japanese: きしかいせい Reversal) is a damage-dealing Fighting-type move introduced in Generation II. It was TR21 in Pokémon Sword and Shield, and is TM134 in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Effect

Reversal inflicts damage and has no additional effect. Its power is based on the user's current HP as a percentage of its maximum HP, which is higher the lower the user's HP is.

Power HP%
All other generations Generation IV
20 HP ≥ 68.8% HP ≥ 67.2%
40 35.4% ≤ HP < 68.8% 34.4% ≤ HP < 67.2%

100 10.4% ≤ HP < 20.8% 9.4% ≤ HP < 20.3%
150 4.2% ≤ HP < 10.4% 3.1% ≤ HP < 9.4%
200 HP < 4.2% HP < 3.1%

Generation II

Reversal cannot cause a critical hit, and its damage is not varied by a random factor during damage calculation.

Generation III onwards

Reversal can now cause a critical hit, and its damage is now varied by a random factor during damage calculation.

Reversal can be used as the second move of a Pokémon Contest combination, with the user gaining 2 bonus appeal points if Endure was used in the previous turn. It is also part of a Contest Spectacular combination and will give an extra three appeal points if the move Endure was used in the prior turn.

Reversal inflicts damage. Its power is higher when the user's HP is lower.

In the Rescue Team series, Reversal's final damage is multiplied by 2 when at 75-51% HP, by 4 when at 50-26%, and by 8 when at 25% or lower.

In the Explorers series, the move's damage is now multiplied by 1.5 at 50-26% HP and by 2 at 25% or lower.

In Super Mystery Dungeon, the damage calculation is approximately proportional to the user's current HP, with the power multiplier roughly ranging from 0.1x at 100% HP, 0.5x at 83%, 1.0x at 62%, 1.3x at 50%, 2.0x at 20%, and 2.5x at 1 HP.
