Upper Hand (Japanese: はやてがえし Quick Hand Reversal) is a damage-dealing Fighting-type move introduced during Generation IX, in The Indigo Disk. It is TM229 in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Effect

Upper Hand has a priority of +3. If the target has selected a physical or special move with increased priority from +1 to +3 (including Upper Hand itself) and has not yet had a chance to execute its move, Upper Hand will strike first and cause the target to flinch; otherwise, Upper Hand will fail. It also works on Abilities that give priority to moves, such as Gale Wings.

Description

Games Description
SV The user reacts to the target's movement and strikes with the heel of its palm, making the target flinch. This move fails if the target is not readying a priority move.
Champs Makes the target flinch. This move fails if the target isn't about to use a priority move.
