Body Press (Japanese: ボディプレス Body Press) is a damage-dealing Fighting-type move introduced in Generation VIII. It was TR99 in Pokémon Sword and Shield, and is TM089 in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Effect

Body Press inflicts damage, but it uses the user's Defense stat instead of its Attack stat to calculate damage.

The user's Defense stat stage-modifiers are applied (rather than Attack stage-modifiers), but otherwise its Attack modifiers are used (including held item, Ability, and burn). For example, the user's Huge Power or a held Choice Band will increase the stat used in calculation, whereas Fur Coat or a held Eviolite will not. In the same vein, Slow Start or Defeatist can decrease the stat used in calculation, whereas Sword of Ruin cannot.

Description

Games Description
SwShBDSPLA The user attacks by slamming its body into the target. The higher the user's Defense, the more damage it can inflict on the target.
SV The user attacks by slamming its body into the target. The higher the user's Defense stat, the greater the damage this move deals.
Champs The damage dealt by this move is calculated using the user's Defense stat instead of its Attack stat.
