Tabitha (Japanese: ホムラ Homura) is one of the Admins of Team Magma.
In the core series
Tabitha plays a key role in the main story of Pokémon Ruby and its remake Pokémon Omega Ruby as an Admin of the main villainous team, Team Magma. He makes only minor appearances in the corresponding games Pokémon Sapphire and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, as Team Aqua are the main villains of these games.
In Pokémon Ruby, Tabitha steals the Meteorite from Professor Cozmo at Meteor Falls and brings it to Maxie at Mt. Chimney. At Mt. Chimney, the player has to battle him before battling Maxie and stopping his attempt to make the volcano erupt. Tabitha is next encountered at Slateport City, assisting Maxie in stealing the Submarine Explorer 1 in order to descend to Seafloor Cavern. He is later encountered again at the Magma Hideout outside Lilycove City, battling the player to buy time for the submarine to escape.
In Pokémon Emerald, Tabitha's role starts out the same way as in Ruby, with him stealing the Meteorite at Meteor Falls. However, now the second encounter with him happens at the new Magma Hideout inside Mt. Chimney, where the player must battle him in order to reach Maxie, who is in the process of awakening Groudon. After the player has defeated Tate and Liza, Team Magma invades the Mossdeep Space Center, intending to steal all of their rocket fuel and make Mt. Chimney erupt. The player teams up with Steven in a Multi Battle against Maxie and Tabitha, who will retreat after being defeated.
In Pokémon Omega Ruby, In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, his appearance is dramatically revamped, similarly to Matt and [[Shelly]. Tabitha is revealed to have previously worked for Devon Corporation, where he was nicknamed Tabitabi (Japanese: ホムホム Homuhomu), and that he helped Team Magma gain access to their research, thus assisting them in the creation of the Magma Suit. Tabitha initially performs the same role as in Pokémon Ruby; unlike in Ruby, however, he is battled by the player and May/Brendan in a Multi Battle at Meteor Falls. Also, after the events at Mt. Chimney, he is encountered at the Weather Institute, a role that was fulfilled by Courtney in Ruby. As Maxie prepares to awaken Groudon at Seafloor Cavern, Tabitha enters the Cavern to express his concern to Maxie about the weather conditions created by Groudon. After Groudon's awakening, Tabitha and his boss head to Sootopolis City, where they will hand the player the Magma Suit.
During the Delta Episode, Tabitha is encountered at the Team Magma Hideout when Zinnia defeats Maxie and takes his Key Stone. Tabitha then begrudgingly gives a Cameruptite to the player upon Maxie's instructions, as Maxie can no longer use it to make his Camerupt Mega Evolve. After the events of the Delta Episode, Tabitha is seen observing a conversation between Maxie and Courtney at the Team Magma Hideout, with Maxie apologizing to his subordinates for his actions.
In Omega Ruby, Tabitha is popular with Team Magma Grunts because of his helpfulness. Rumors suggest he aims to lead Team Magma.[2]
Tabitha's only appearance in Pokémon Alpha Sapphire happens during the player's initial visit to the Battle Resort, where he and Courtney are bumped into by Wally, much to their irritation.
Tabitha also appears in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Special Demo Version, where he can be faced in a Multi Battle along with Matt.

In the anime
Main series
Though two Magma Admins appeared in the games, only Tabitha appeared in the anime. His first appearance was in A Three Team Scheme!, where he led a group of Team Magma Grunts in an exploration of some ancient ruins on Dewford Island in search of the Cave of Origin. They also had a confrontation with Team Aqua. Due to a dubbing error, he was mistakenly referred to as "Field Commander Harlan" during this episode, though his name was corrected in all subsequent appearances.
In The Spheal of Approval, Tabitha and two grunts broke into the Oceanic Museum in order to steal a rock sample owned by Captain Stern. Although Ash and his friends attempted to stop them, Team Magma successfully made off with most of the sample.
In Fight for the Meteorite!, Tabitha led a squad of grunts on a mission to Mt. Chimney, first stealing a meteorite from Professor Cozmo and then using it to power an experimental machine affecting the volcano. However, their plans were ultimately thwarted by Ash and Cozmo.
His final appearances were in Gaining Groudon and The Scuffle of Legends. His submarine accidentally picked up Ash and his friends while out on patrol, bringing them to Team Magma's base. He was present for the battle between Kyogre and Groudon, and, like the rest of Team Magma, has not been seen since.
Character
Tabitha is an intimidating individual. He and Shelly have a rivalry with one another, often exchanging insults and battling one another. His loyalty to Team Magma's came into doubt after seeing the destructive power of the Red Orb in The Scuffle of Legends.

In the manga
Ash & Pikachu
Tabitha appeared in Two Groups Attacking! Magma VS. Aqua along with the other members of Team Magma.
Pokémon Adventures
In Pokémon Adventures, "Tabitha" is a codename given to Admins of Team Magma. There are two known people given the codename Tabitha.
First Tabitha
The first Tabitha debuted in the Ruby & Sapphire arc. He is one of the Three Fires of Team Magma, alongside Courtney and Blaise. Like other members of Team Magma, the horns on Tabitha's hood can be removed to reveal a special lighter that can transmit and record images through its flame. Like the other Three Fires, Tabitha specializes in using flames to his advantage. In his case, Tabitha uses the smoke from his Torkoal to make his targets drowsy.
He first appears alongside Courtney on the Abandoned Ship, where they were sent to obtain the Scanner hidden aboard. There, they meet Ruby and Sapphire, both of which attempt to keep the Scanner out of Tabitha and Courtney's hands. In the end, Ruby and Sapphire escape, but Tabitha and Courtney manage to obtain the Scanner. The Scanner is later given to Blaise, who modifies it to search for the Red and Blue Orbs. At Slateport City, Tabitha, Courtney, and Blaise are sent to capture Captain Stern and his assistant, Dock in order to obtain the Submarine Explorer 1. In the end, Blaise manages to obtain the submarine for Team Magma's use.
Tabitha later appears at Mt. Chimney, which had its volcanic activity stopped by Team Aqua. There, he encounters Flannery, a Gym Leader who fought Team Aqua but failed to stop their plan to kill Mt. Chimney. They teamed up to try and revive the volcano, but their attempts only brought it back for a short time. Angered at this failure, Tabitha cursed Team Aqua and returned to Team Magma's base.
With Team Magma possessing the Submarine Explorer 1 and Team Aqua possessing the heart component needed to keep it stable while underwater, both teams decide to have a temporary truce and head to the Seafloor Cavern together. When Team Magma and Aqua meet, they fit the Submarine Explorer 1 with its heart component and head underwater. After meeting with each other and completing the submarine, Tabitha and several Team Magma Grunts head underwater with Maxie. Upon arriving, the teams end their truce and proceed to head their separate ways. Archie manages to awaken Kyogre first, giving the advantage to Team Aqua. Despite this, Maxie uses the Red and Blue Orbs Blaise obtained from Mt. Pyre to control both super-ancient Pokémon to give Groudon an advantage over Kyogre. The strain of using both Orbs exhausts Maxie, so he hands the Blue Orb to Tabitha so he can control Kyogre.
Finding Kyogre's behavior suspicious, Archie sends Amber to investigate Team Magma. Amber finds Tabitha with the Blue Orb and attacks him to take it for Archie. The battle leads them into the Submarine Explorer 1, but Amber succeeds in obtaining the Blue Orb. Immediately after handing it over, Archie betrays Amber and sends the submarine into the ocean depths without the heart component, leaving Tabitha and Amber to die as the submarine breaks apart. Tabitha and Amber work together to keep the submarine afloat and preventing water from flowing inside, but it eventually breaks apart, sending both into the water. After attempting to save both himself and Amber by swimming to the surface, Tabitha is rescued by Blaise.
When the Gym Leaders split into groups in an attempt to stop both Pokémon, the Admins of Teams Magma and Aqua split up to stop them. Tabitha is paired up against Wallace, who he drags to an abandoned Lilycove City to battle in Lilycove Department Store. After being easily defeated, Tabitha suddenly goes crazy and begins attacking wildly. Wallace is saved by Steven, who reveals that coming in contact with the Blue Orb caused Tabitha to lose control of himself. Steven stays behind to battle Tabitha and sends Wallace to assist in the battle against Groudon and Kyogre at Sootopolis City. Later, Steven defeats Tabitha, allowing to head to Sootopolis as well.
After Groudon and Kyogre are defeated, Tabitha returns to a normal life. He is seen visiting the Lavaridge Hot Springs, which were reopened after Groudon went to sleep in Mt. Chimney, reviving its volcanic activity.
In the Chuang Yi translations, he is known as Mitch.
Pokémon
Torkoal is Tabitha's second known Pokémon and his main battling force. He can release various types of smoke and gas from his body, causing people to become drowsy. He was first used to battle Ruby and Sapphire on the Abandoned Ship. At the Seafloor Cavern, he attempted to protect the Blue Orb from Amber by holding the orb in his shell. Amber's Volbeat used Trick to switch the Blue Orb with a Figy Berry. When Tabitha and Amber were trapped inside the submarine, Torkoal used his smoke to keep the submarine afloat. At Lilycove Museum, he fought against Wallace's Whiscash, but was defeated.
Torkoal's known moves are Yawn, Heat Wave, Smog, and Body Slam, and his Ability is White Smoke.
Second Tabitha
In the Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire arc, a second Tabitha appears. This Tabitha, along with a new Courtney, is a member of Neo Team Magma (Japanese: 新生マグマ団 Neo Magma Gang), having replaced the previous one. Along with Shelly, Tabitha is a former researcher from the Devon Corporation but hated his time working there due to Mr. Stone's policies.
At Mossdeep City, Tabitha appears to help Zinnia in stopping the launch of a rocket that would stop the meteoroid threatening to destroy the world. He, Courtney, and the Admins of the reborn Team Aqua, battle Sapphire in order to distract her long enough for Zinnia to head to the rocket. Tabitha offers Zinnia a Magma Suit to use, only for Shelly to suggest that Zinnia use the Aqua Suit instead, leading them to argue with each other.
Later, the Admins are attacked by the Hoenn Frontier Brains and are defeated. The Brains attempt to interrogate the Admins on Zinnia's whereabouts, but the Admins admit they don't know where she went to. Later, Tabitha and Shelly are called to Sootopolis City to assist in stopping the meteoroid.
Pokémon Omega Ruby Crimson Passion and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Indigo Wisdom
Tabitha appeared in Pokémon Omega Ruby Crimson Passion and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Indigo Wisdom.
Pokémon
Camerupt is Tabitha's only known Pokémon. It first appeared tackling Omega's Pokémon.
Camerupt then had a battle with Omega's Marshtomp and lost after Marshtomp evolved into Swampert.
Camerupt's only known move is Rock Slide.
Trivia
- Tabitha, like Shelly, has been the subject of two name changes over two different mediums: Harlan in the anime and Mitch in the Chuang Yi translation of Pokémon Adventures. "Harlan" was later corrected to Tabitha after his initial debut; he remained "Mitch" throughout the entire Ruby & Sapphire arc in Chuang Yi's version.
