Ash & Pikachu (Japanese: サトシとピカチュウ Satoshi and Pikachu) is a Pokémon manga based directly on the Johto and some of the Hoenn seasons of Pokémon the Series. It is created by Takashi Teshirogi.
All six volumes of the manga were translated into English by Chuang Yi in Singapore.
Differences between the animated series and the manga
This manga, while not having striking differences like The Electric Tale of Pikachu, does put a few twists on certain episodes of Pokémon the Series by retelling it in a fun way. For example, the second chapter of the first volume combines the Pokémon fortune-telling episode and Ash's match against Whitney, but with a couple of changes.
- Whitney is shown to have a grandmother living close to her in Goldenrod City.
- During the Silver Conference, Gary Oak uses a Nidoking instead of a Golem.
Trivia
- In the English translation by Chuang Yi, many animated series characters of the day are referred to by their Japanese names and not the names that were used in the English dub.
