Bite (Japanese: かみつく Bite) is a damage-dealing Dark-type move introduced in Generation I. Prior to Generation II, it was a Normal-type move.

Effect

Generation I

Bite is a Normal-type move in this generation.

Bite inflicts damage and has a 10% chance of causing the target to flinch.

Generation II onward

Bite is now a Dark-type move and has a 30% chance of causing the target to flinch. Due to the change in type it is now a special move in Generations II and III before reverting to a physical move starting in Generation IV.

When used by a Pokémon with Strong Jaw, its power is increased by 50%.

Bite can be used as the second move of a Pokémon Contest combination, with the user gaining 1 bonus appeal point if Leer or Scary Face was used in the previous turn.
