Description The youngest Gym Leader in Johto and a lover of bug Pokémon, he has great knowledge of Bug types and wants to become a Pokémon Professor.

Bugsy (Japanese: ツクシ Tsukushi) is a Pokémon Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX, based on the character of the same name in the core series. He forms a sync pair with Beedrill, which is capable of Mega Evolving. This sync pair was first made available since the game's release. The pair's potential can be upgraded to Masters EX star.png 6★ EX from May 25, 2024, which unlocks Bugsy's EX style.

Bugsy also forms a sync pair with his Scyther. This sync pair was first made available on July 22, 2021. This pair could be raised to Masters EX star.png 6★ EX beginning on March 29, 2023, though this pair lacks an EX style.

Trivia

  • Bugsy & Scyther are the only sync pair obtained in a special sync pair event that did not receive a rerun within a year of their initial release.
  • All versions of Bugsy use special voice-over lines upon entering a team that contains certain Trainers (regardless of their partner Pokémon). Those Trainers include Aaron, Burgh, and Guzma.

Origin

Bugsy's design is based on his appearance in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. Beedrill is the evolved form of Kakuna, one of the Pokémon that Bugsy uses during his Gym battle with the player in the Johto-based core series games. Beedrill's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.

Scyther is Bugsy's signature Pokémon in the core series games. Scyther's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ultra Sun.
