Professor Magnolia (Japanese: マグノリア博士 Dr. Magnolia) is a Pokémon Professor from the Galar region. She specializes in Dynamax.

In the games

Professor Magnolia is a researcher who has been studying the Dynamax phenomenon for many years. It is said that the people of Galar were greatly excited when she presented her findings on the Dynamax phenomenon some years ago, which led to the use of the phenomenon in current Galar culture. She once helped Leon and Sonia start their journeys as Trainers and Gym Challengers when they were younger.

Magnolia first meets the player and Hop at Route 2. She obtains their Wishing Stars to convert them into Dynamax Bands, and encourages Leon to endorse both of them to partake in the Gym Challenge. From there, she periodically appears in the story, her most notable appearance being in Hammerlocke upon request by Chairman Rose so that Rose may know more about Galar particles. Later on, she steps down from her position as Professor and hands over her Dynamax research to her granddaughter, Sonia. Sonia also continues to expand upon said research by studying the legends of Zacian, Zamazenta, and the Darkest Day.

Eventually, after the player becomes Champion, Magnolia appears before the player at their house and gives them the Master Ball. She encourages the player to use the power of Dynamax correctly and for the good of others, likely out of partial feeling of guilt over Rose misusing the power of Dynamax energy and nearly causing the destruction of Galar.

In Pokémon GO, Professor Willow mentions that Magnolia is one of his colleagues.

Pokémon Adventures

Professor Magnolia debuted in Wow!! That's One Big Pokémon. She researches the Dynamax phenomenon with her assistants, Henry, Casey, and Marvin. The group travels and sleeps in Professor Magnolia's mobile home, the (Japanese: マグノリア号 Magnolia).

She was first seen meeting a boy named Marvin who was rescued from falling off a cliff by Henry. After proper introductions were made, Henry, Casey, and Marvin participated in a Dynamax simulation where they fought and defeated a Dynamax Pangoro hologram. The battle gave Marvin the confidence to set on a Pokémon journey of his own. With approval from his parents, Marvin joined Magnolia and her assistants on their quest to study Dynamax.

In Chomp!! Defeat Drednaw, Magnolia's trailer house was attacked by a trio of wild Drednaw. In order to battle the Bite Pokémon, Henry and Casey each received a Rotom Phone with a Pokédex function installed from Magnolia, officially making them both Pokédex holders. After the Drednaw were defeated, Magnolia noted that Marvin and Sobble bonded during the ordeal and suggested the boy keep it, which he happily accepted.

In Watch Out!! Strong Rivals, the group encountered Sonia, Professor Magnolia's granddaughter and a researcher. When Sonia lamented being unable to make much progress in her research, Henry had his Lancelot sabotaged the trailer house, preventing it from moving. Magnolia asked Sonia to go with the others and research the geoglyph in Turffield in her place while she had the car repaired.

In Glittering!! The Tapestry in the Vault, the group encountered Opal in Hammerlocke. After taking Henry and the others to Stow-on-Side for their next Gym battle, Magnolia gave Opal a ride home back to Ballonlea. In PASS18, Magnolia gave Henry a news report about Pokémon Dynamaxing at Route 9 Tunnel, a normally impossible occurrence. Worried that Casey could be blamed due to her Dynamax simulator, the group traveled to the area to investigate.

In PASS22, Magnolia received a call from Sonia, who had uncovered information on Sordward and Shielbert, the thieves that stole Casey's Pokémon a year ago. They agreed to rendezvous around Spikemuth, but while Magnolia and the others waited for Sonia to arrive, the trailer house was Sordward's Golisopod and Shielbert's Bronzong. The brothers mistakenly believed Sonia managed to deliver a camera containing the data she found, only for Piers to arrive with it in his possession. Piers gave the camera up but secretly removed its memory card, tricking the brothers into leaving empty handed.

In PASS25, after being informed by Leon and Sonia that Rose, Sordward, and Shielbert were working together, Henry's group and the Gym Leaders gathered at Rose Tower to find out if Rose intended on bringing harm to Galar. Rose was actually in Hammerlocke, where he revealed his plan to restart the Darkest Day and ensure the safety of Galar's future. Power Spot lights began appearing all over the region, causing Pokémon to start Dynamaxing at random. She then picked up Henry's group and the Gym Leaders in her trailer house in the streets of Wyndon.

In PASS26, She gave the group a ride from Wyndon to Hammerlocke through Route 10. After driving Henry's group and some Gym Leaders at Hammerlocke, Magnolia and the remaining Gym Leaders went to help the towns being ravaged by the rampaging Dynamax Pokémon.

In PASS29, After the multiple Dynamaxing situation was controlled, Magnolia was preparing to drive the remaining Gym Leaders back to Hammerlocke to provide backup before an unknown thing crashed in front of the vehicle.

In PASS30, at the Tower Summit, Henry, Zacian, Zamazenta and Eternatus all disappeared after a flash of light and everyone at the tower summit was injured by the shockwave that followed. She visited the hospital in Hammerlocke with Opal and was relieved to find everyone was safe. She then followed Marvin to Hammerlocke Stadium's lobby and was shocked to hear that Henry has dissapeared.

In PASS31, She along with Sonia and Oleana was seen at Wedgehurst Station sending off the search group bound for the Isle of Armor and the Crown Tundra.
