Mira (Japanese: ミル Miru) is a Pokémon Trainer from Sinnoh. She specializes in Pokémon with high Special Attack. She first appeared in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl and made subsequent appearances in Pokémon Platinum and Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.

She bears a resemblance to Pesselle, sporting a similar hairstyle, but the relationship between the two, if any, is unknown.

In the core series games

Mira is one of five Trainers who can join with the main character during an event in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum and Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Later, she can join the player in competition at Sinnoh's Battle Tower. She first appears in the Wayward Cave. She got lost inside looking for Pokémon and needs to be escorted out. Mira says she prefers using support moves like Flash. She seems to admire the player, saying that she wants to be like the player when she grows up. She also tends to refer to herself in third person; using her own name instead of using the personal pronoun "I". This is typical in Japanese, where it is used to indicate femininity or childishness. This is absent in the remakes.

Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl

Mira appeared in Sandshrew's Locker!. Wanting to use Dawn's Water Pokémon for her own purposes, she offered to Teleport everyone to Hearthome City using her Abra. However, she Teleported them to a flooded city and told them her grandmother's pendant was lost somewhere in the dam. Everyone went diving to recover the pendant, but they were repelled by a wild Gyarados.

Brock quickly realized that Mira was being deliberately deceptive, with everything planned from the very beginning. Mira apologized for the web of lies, admitting that no one would help her if she told the truth. After another confession, Mira explained that actually the Poké Ball containing a Sandshrew she and her friends used to play with was left at the school when the town was flooded because of the dam.

Ash had Pikachu defeat the wild Gyarados, and Mira was reunited with her Sandshrew. Filled with gratitude, she had her Abra Teleport everyone to Hearthome City.

Abra was first seen with Mira when she had asked Ash and his friends for help finding her Pokémon that was at the bottom of a dam. After a few failed attempts, and an attack from Team Rocket, Mira finally found her lost Pokémon, Sandshrew, and Teleported Ash and his friends to Hearthome City.

Abra's only known move is Teleport.

Mira and her friends found a Poké Ball one day at school, and inside was Sandshrew. The trio decided to raise the Pokémon, sharing the duties between themselves. However, Sandshrew was accidentally left inside its Ball when the town was flooded for a new dam. Mira and her Abra had attempted to retrieve Sandshrew, but a wild Gyarados kept them at bay.

With the help of Ash and his friends, Mira was able to deal with the Gyarados and retrieve Sandshrew from the old school in Sandshrew's Locker!. When Team Rocket attacked, Mira used Sandshrew to battle them along with Ash's Turtwig.

Sandshrew's known moves are Slash and Sandstorm.

Mira in Pokémon Adventures

Pokémon Adventures

Mira first appeared in the Battleground, battling with Cheryl. Later, after Buck and Looker were sent to the hospital after escaping from Team Galactic on Stark Mountain, Mira was seen crying next to Buck's hospital bed.

After Thorton had repaired the drone that could lead them to Team Galactic, Mira and Cheryl convinced Palmer to let them join him, Platinum, and Riley on their trip to the Distortion World. After traveling far enough, they arrived at the Spring Path, but found that Marley had been captured by the Advanced level Grunt. However, the Grunt revealed that he did not want to fight and had escaped from Team Galactic after being freed from Sird's mind control. Platinum forced him to take them to the Distortion World, but everyone was separated upon arriving due to the dimension's strange gravity.

In the Distortion World, Mira found Charon, the man that defeated Buck, and tried to stop him from escaping. She was stopped by Jupiter and the other Galactic Commanders, who challenged them to a battle. Mira faced Saturn and his Toxicroak, while Marley and Cheryl fought Jupiter and Mars, respectively. During the battle, Mira had her Alakazam constantly boost its defensive power in an attempt to make the battle longer and her opponent unable to damage it. However, the battle was eventually interrupted by Giratina, causing Mira to throw a tantrum and complain that she would've won without the interruption.

After Charon was defeated, Mira, along with Cheryl and Buck, decided to take Heatran back to its home on Stark Mountain.

Mira's Alakazam

Alakazam is Mira's only known Pokémon. Alakazam was used against Cheryl and her Blissey. Later, it fought against Saturn's Toxicroak in the Distortion World.

Alakazam's known moves are Psychic*, Power Trick, and Guard Swap.

Trivia

  • All of Mira's Pokémon in the Battleground give out at least 2 Special Attack EVs.
    • Her Togekiss is the only one to not give out 3 Special Attack EVs.
    • All of Mira's Battleground Pokémon either obtained or later obtains a new evolution (including Mega Evolution) from a different generation.
  • Mira is one of two Trainers in the Battleground that only use Pokémon in the Platinum Pokédex, the other being Candice.
  • All of the Pokémon that Mira uses in the Battleground are members of a three-stage evolution family and give three EVs each.
  • Mira is the only stat Trainer in the anime to use a different Pokémon than in the games, replacing her Kadabra with an Abra, likely due to the Kadabra controversy.
