The fan term signature Ability refers to an Ability that only one Pokémon, or only one evolutionary family of Pokémon, can have within a given generation.
While technically not a signature Ability by definition, multiple Abilities are exclusive to certain groups of Pokémon:
- The Ability Beast Boost is exclusive to Ultra Beasts.
- The Ability Protosynthesis is exclusive to the ancient Paradox Pokémon.
- The Ability Quark Drive is exclusive to the future Paradox Pokémon.

Trivia
- Every Ability introduced in Generation VII, VIII, and IX, except Slush Rush, Cud Chew, and Sharpness, debuted as a signature Ability or exclusive to certain groups of Pokémon.
