Flavor text Generation VII Contact with the Pokémon lowers the attacker's Speed stat. Generation VIII Contact with the Pokémon lowers the attacker's Speed stat. Generation IX Contact with the Pokémon lowers the attacker's Speed stat.

Tangling Hair (Japanese: カーリーヘアー Curly Hair) is an Ability introduced in Generation VII. It is the signature Ability of Alolan Diglett and Alolan Dugtrio.

Effect

In battle

When a Pokémon with this Ability is hit by a move that makes contact, the Speed of the attacking Pokémon is decreased by one stage.

If a Pokémon with this Ability is hit by a multistrike move that makes contact (such as Fury Swipes), each hit activates this Ability.

Outside of battle

Tangling Hair has no effect outside of battle.
