Guard Swap (Japanese: ガードスワップ Guard Swap) is a non-damaging Psychic-type move introduced in Generation IV. It was TM61 in Pokémon Sword and Shield.

Effect

Guard Swap switches the user's Defense stat stages and Special Defense stat stages with the target's Defense stat stages and Special Defense stat stages. Since this changes stat stages, the stat stages can be passed via Baton Pass.

Guard Swap bypasses accuracy checks to always hit, unless the target is in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move such as Dig or Fly.

If powered up by a Psychium Z into Z-Guard Swap, the user's Speed stat is raised by one stage.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series

In Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky, Guard Swap is a move with 11PP that ignores accuracy and evasion checks. The user targets Pokémon in the front, ally or enemy, while also cutting corners. The user and target swap Defense and Sp. Defense stat boosts as well as multipliers from Screech. This move is affected by Taunt.

Pokémon UNITE

In Pokémon UNITE, Guard Swap was Mr. Mime's second move. It since has been replaced by Power Swap. It was obtained by reaching level 6 and upgrading Light Screen into it instead of Barrier. The user fires a beam, swapping base Defense and Sp. Defense with another Pokémon for as long as they stay in range or until another target is Guard Swapped. Swapping with an enemy slows and damages them over time while increasing the user's movement speed. Swapping with an ally increases the movement speed of that ally and the user. Damage ticks every .5s. At level 13, the move heals the user, plus an ally if tethered to them every .5s.
