Gothita is a small, humanoid Pokémon. A small tuft of hair sticks up from the top of its purple head, and it has two white, bow-shaped feelers on each side of the head and a third bow-shaped feeler on its neck. These ribbon-like feelers are used to amplify Gothita's psychic power, and will cause Gothita to cry if touched. It has two large blue eyes with three eyelashes on each and small red lips. Its torso is black with a white zigzagging line running horizontally through the middle. Its arms and legs are short and stubby with no visible digits.
Gothita intently observes those around it, looking at something only it can see. It can become so focused that it ends up being unaware of attacks. Gothita are normally known to be innocent. It is usually quiet, but sometimes it makes muted cries, even when alone. This is believed to be Gothita communicating with invisible beings.
In Pokémon GO, Gothita can be obtained by completing 1/5 of the Special Research, Throwback Challenge Champion 2020. It can also be obtained by completing 1/5 of the Ticketed Special Research, Throwback Challenge Celebration 2020.
Gothita debuted in Where Did You Go, Audino?, under the ownership of Christie. It was used to help out on the disappearance of Audino. After two Audino destroyed a bridge with Psychic so the group could not follow them, Christie commanded Gothita to use Telekinesis to get them across the river. It was then used to battle Team Rocket by using Psyshock on Woobat.
In A Dancing Debut!, Nini used a Gothita in the Theme Performance of the CouriwayShowcase alongside Nini's Smoochum and Farfetch'd. It helped Nini prepare a Poké Puff, advancing her to the Freestyle Performance. There, it delivered a performance along with its teammates, but it did not receive enough votes to win.
Gothita, the Fixation Pokémon. Gothita's Psychic powers are made stronger by its ribbon-like feelers. When Gothita becomes fixated on something, it's looking at something only it can see.
Gothita can be seen as a parallel to Solosis. Both are Generation VPsychic-typePokémon evolving once at level 32 and then again at level 41. Gothita is exclusive to Pokémon Black, Black 2, and Sword, while Solosis is exclusive to Pokémon White, White 2, and Shield. They both have the same base experience and catch rates, gain new moves at similar levels and have base stat totals of 290.
Origin
Gothita seems to be based on a child dressed in Gothic Lolita fashion, as well as the common trope to associate goth girls with magical powers or witchcraft. The Gothic Lolita fashion itself is highly influenced by the fashion from the Victorian period of the United Kingdom and also by styles from the Rococo period, the Rococo being an artistic movement born in the 18th century in France that later spread to other parts of Europe and the colonial Americas.
Due to Gothitelle's ability to predict the future from stars, Gothita and its Evolutions may be based on diviners, or more specifically astrologers. Due to their feminine appearance and association with the stars, Gothita and its Evolutions may be inspired by the Virgo sign and constellation. This is further supported by Gothorita being the Virgo equivalent in Unova's Horoscope.
Gothita was featured in an official Pokémon illustration for the Year of the Ox in 2021.[1] This is likely a pun involving its Japanese category name, ぎょうしポケモン Gyoushi Pokémon (Staring Pokémon) and うし ushi, a common reading of 牛 (cow).
Name origin
Gothita may be derived from gothic and the Spanish feminine diminutive suffix -ita. It may also be a contraction of Gothic Lolita.
Gothimu may be a combination of gothic and むちむちmuchimuchi (chubby). It may also involve 予知夢yochimu (precognitive dream).
