Future Sight (Japanese: みらいよち Future Sight) is a damage-dealing Psychic-type move introduced in Generation II.

Contents

Effect

Generation II-IV

On the turn Future Sight is selected, this attack will do nothing other than say that the user has foreseen an attack. Two turns later, Future Sight will do damage against the target, using the Special Attack stat of the user and Special Defense stat of the target at the time of use (not at the time the attack actually hits; if the target is switched out, the attack will hit its replacement). Although Future Sight is a Psychic-type attack, it will not take type into account, ignoring weaknesses, immunities and resistances. Therefore, it is able to hit Dark-type foes and does not receive STAB. Furthermore, Future Sight cannot cause a critical hit and its damage is not increased by Life Orb.

Future Sight can hit through Wonder Guard, Protect, and Detect. It can knock out a target that used Endure, but not one wearing a Focus Sash that has full HP.

Future Sight cannot be used on a target multiple times; it must complete before it may be used on a target again. Doom Desire and Future Sight cannot be stacked.

When Future Sight misses, the miss will not occur until the third turn, and it will say "it failed".

Generation V

Future Sight's power is changed from 80 to 100, its accuracy from 90% to 100%, and its PP from 15 to 10.

Futhermore, Future Sight now does Psychic-type damage that will take typing into account and can therefore receive STAB. Future Sight no longer uses the Special Defense stat of the targeted Pokémon, but instead the Special Defense of the hit Pokémon.

Protect or Detect no longer stops Future Sight if used on the turn Future Sight is first used.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams

Future Sight inflicts the Set Damage status condition on the target.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time, Darkness, and Sky

The user will always deal 30HP damage on any enemies for a set number of turns.
