Biology

Physiology

Uxie is a small, gray, fairy-like Pokémon with two gray tails that are each encrusted with a red gem. These are, presumably, two of the jewels which make up the Red Chain. Uxie has a partially yellow face with another red gem encrusted into its forehead. Uxie appears to have a yellow helmet.

Uxie always has its eyes closed due to the fact that it can wipe out the memory of those who look in its eyes.

Gender differences

Uxie is genderless.

Special abilities

It can wipe out the memory of those whose eyes come in contact with its eyes. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2, it is shown that Uxie can also create an illusion. Uxie is also the most intelligent of all Pokémon, having created all knowledge in the Pokémon universe.

Trivia

  • Uxie is the mascot of the Poképédia.
  • Despite being genderless in the main series games, Uxie is referred to as a male in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2.
  • Azelf's Pokémon Pearl Pokédex entry mentions that Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf emerged from the same egg.
  • Uxie is said to be the most intelligent Pokémon in the world.
  • Uxie is the first legendary Pokémon that Brock has some sort of connection with in the anime.

Origin

Uxie is based after a pixie or a fairy and the color yellow. Uxie and the rest of the trio could possibly have originated from the Imperial Regalia of Japan, which are also called the Three Sacred Treasures. Uxie would be the Yata no Kagami, which embodies wisdom and honesty.

Name origin

Uxie's name may be a combination of 行く先 yukusaki, future, 知識 chishiki, knowledge, and pixie. It could also come from you and pixie.
