Chimecho is a small, round Pokémon with a mainly bluish-white body shaped like a fūrin wind chime. It has beady, yellow eyes and three stubby limbs — two on its sides and one on its back. Its body has a horizontal amaranth-colored pattern. Underneath its body extends a long, tag-like tail that has amaranth patterning at the bottom. A yellow, globular growth, referred to as a suction cup or a sucker, is connected to the top of its body, which it uses to hang from a tree branch or the eaves of a building.
Chimecho's body is hollow and allows sounds to echo inside. By amplifying the faint sound of wind inside its body, Chimecho can create ultrasonic sound waves and other noises, allowing it to startle and repel opponents. It uses seven different echoing cries to communicate with others. An omnivorous species, it eats Berries that it plucks with its tail and can knock out large prey using powerful waves of air. Chimecho is nocturnal and usually lives in grasslands and woods, but some are found in mountainous regions. It flies by riding on winds and becomes more active during hot seasons.
As Mega Chimecho, its suction cup expands in size and forms a Chingling-styled ornament behind it, consisting of its familiar golden color along with the accompanying large red and white tassels. Six smaller Chimecho-styled ornaments line the Chingling ornament's arms and cheeks. Starting from the outward ornaments, they are colored amaranth, blue, and green, though with a connecting cheek pattern and a more polygonal pattern on each tail.
Mega Chimecho’s cries have a bright and refreshing tone that soothes the hearts of Trainers who hear them. These cries calm the souls of listeners and are said to have a cleansing power that wards off and purifies evil spirits.[1] Mega Chimecho can unleash powerful sound waves to disrupt its opponents' minds and break their spirits. Those hit by the attack will feel detached from reality and experience memory loss, sometimes losing track of what they were doing or who they are. Even if an opponent manages to win in this state, the sound of shattering, reverberating glass that resonates when Mega Chimecho falls will leave them in a state of shock despite their victory. The smaller copies of Mega Chimecho flutter endlessly, even when no wind is blowing. When Mega Chimecho cries, its copies join in and resonate with it. These echoes overlap and reverberate to create an intense sound-wave attack that can overwhelm any opponent.[2][3]
Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon: The same Chimecho later returns as a recruitable character and will request the player to make a delivery to Diglett. Upon completion, the pair will connect with the player and will be usable.

Chimecho, the Wind Chime Pokémon. Chimecho has a voice that reverberates from deep within its body. When angry, the sound waves can be powerful enough to blow opponents away.
Chimecho first appeared in The Last Battle XIV, as a wild Pokémon pictured in one of the many photographs of unseen Pokémon that Professor Oak discovered.
Chimecho appears to be based on Japanese glass wind bells known as fūrin, which are hung around Shinto shrines to predict disasters and ward off evil spirits. Its red and white coloration is reminiscent of the dresses worn by miko.
Mega Chimecho may be based on the khakkhara or shakujo staffs used by Buddhist monks. They are topped by golden rings and the sounds of the rings shaking ward off animals, reflecting how Mega Chimecho's echoes create overlapping sounds. Mega Chimecho is also in the shape of a Chingling.
Chimecho’s seven cries, and the seven Chimecho on Mega Chimecho, may reference how the number seven signifies luck, good fortune, and spirituality in Shinto and Buddhist culture.
