The Pure Incense (Japanese: きよめのおこう Purify Incense) is a type of held item introduced in Generation IV. It allows Chimecho to produce Chingling Eggs. In the overworld, its effect is identical to the Cleanse Tag.

In the overworld
Generation IV
If held by the first member in the player's party, it lowers the encounter rate of wild Pokémon by a third. It also works if the holder has fainted.
Generation V onward
Pure Incense's encounter rate reduction does not apply if it is held by a Pokémon with Illuminate, Arena Trap, No Guard, Stench, White Smoke, Quick Feet, or Infiltrator, or if the Pokémon has Sand Veil or Snow Cloak and the appropriate weather condition is in effect. However, Pure Incense is still cumulative with the overworld effects of Intimidate and Keen Eye.
In Pokémon Sword and Shield only, this item instead decreases the chance of hidden encounters by 87.5%.
Breeding
If held by either parent of a pairing in Pokémon Day Care or the Pokémon Nursery that would produce a Chimecho Egg, a Chingling Egg is produced instead.
