* Selene has never appeared in an event story area that Elio has not also appeared in. They are the only pair of protagonists with this distinction.
* Selene and Elio are one of two pairs of protagonists where it is unkown which one is based on the player character from their games of origin, the other being Chase and Elaine.
* So far, it is unclear whether Selene or Elio is based on the player character of the Alola-based games. They both moved from Kanto to Alola, went on the island challenge, and have a Meowth as a family pet.

* All versions of Selene use special voice-over lines upon entering a team that contains certain Trainers (regardless of their partner Pokémon). Those Trainers include Elio, Hau, Lillie, Gladion, Hala, Olivia, Nanu, Hapu, and Kukui (but not the Masked Royal).
** Selene also uses special voice-over lines upon winning a battle with Elio, Hau, or Gladion in the same team.

Origin
Origin
Selene's design is based on her appearance in Sun and Moon. Rowlet is the one of the first partner Pokémon of Alola in the core series games. In addition, Moon has been depicted with Rowlet and its evolutions. Rowlet, Dartrix, and Decidueye's Dex entries come from Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

Selene's Umbreon may be based on the Eevee that can be obtained from an unnamed Pokémon Breeder at Paniola Ranch. Umbreon is also known as the category, which matches Selene's name origin of Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon, as well as Selene being one of the potential main characters of Pokémon Moon. Umbreon's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ultra Sun.

Selene's Special Costume seems to be inspired by Kamen Rider, a Japanese superhero show. While Selene is not seen owning a Scizor outside this game, the pairing likely references how the costumes worn by the heroes in Kamen Rider resemble bugs. Scizor's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ultra Sun.
Selene's Alt outfit design is based on her appearance in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Nihilego is one of the Ultra Beasts, and it plays an important role in the story of Pokémon Sun and Moon, where it is caught by the player during the post-game. Nihilego's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ultra Sun.

Description This highly curious and easygoing Trainer is friendly with everyone and quite easy to get along with. She doesn't worry about the little things and tends to act on instinct.

Selene (Japanese: ミヅキ Mizuki) is a Pokémon Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX, based on the character of the same name in the core series. She forms a sync pair with Rowlet and its evolutions, Dartrix and Decidueye. The sync pair can be obtained through the sync pair scout, starting on April 15, 2021. This pair can be upgraded to Masters EX star.png 6★ EX since it first released.

Selene also forms a sync pair with her Umbreon. This pair can be obtained through a variety sync pair scout beginning on November 21, 2023. This pair can be raised to Masters EX star.png 6★ EX since it first released, though this pair lacks an EX style.

Selene in her Special Costume forms a sync pair with Scizor, which is capable of Mega Evolving. This pair was first made available through a costume sync pair scout beginning on April 14, 2024. This pair can be raised to Masters EX star.png 6★ EX since it first released.

Selene in her Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon attire forms a sync pair with Nihilego. This pair can be obtained through a Poké Fair sync pair scout beginning on August 2, 2024. This pair can be raised to Masters EX star.png 6★ EX since it first released.

Trivia

Origin

Selene's design is based on her appearance in Pokémon Sun and Moon. Rowlet is the one of the first partner Pokémon of Alola in the core series games. In addition, Selene's Pokémon Adventures counterpart has been depicted with Rowlet and its evolutions. Rowlet, Dartrix, and Decidueye's Dex entries come from Pokémon Ultra Sun.

Selene's Umbreon may be based on the Eevee that can be obtained from an unnamed Pokémon Breeder at Paniola Ranch. Umbreon is also known as the Moon Pokémon, which matches Selene's name origin of Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon, as well as Selene being one of the potential main characters of Pokémon Moon.
