Physiology
Buizel possesses mainly mammalian characteristics with orange fur and paws as well as resembling a realistic cross between a weasel and a sea otter. The collar that is around its neck can be inflated and used as a flotation device when the Pokémon inhales. Buizel also carries characteristics of sea creatures, in that it has two blue fins on its arms and two tails, appearing to be split up, that resembles a fish's fin. Its tail acts as a boat propeller by spinning. There are parallel marks on their cheeks quite similar to those of Furret. Additionally, Buizel has cream-colored paw pads on both its fore- and hind-feet.
Buizel is an orange Pokémon resembling a weasel and a sea otter. It has a yellow collar around its neck and two blue fins on its arms. Buizel has a cream-colored spot above each eye and two black parallel marks on its cheeks. The underside of its face and stomach are also cream-colored, as are the tips of its two tails. A male Buizel has two cream-colored spots on their back, while a female has only one.
Gender differences
From back view, the males have two white spots and the females only have one.

Special abilities
Buizel's yellow collar is a flotation sac that can be inflated when it inhales. By doing so, Buizel can keep its face above water to watch for prey movement or survey its surroundings. Conversely, it deflates this sac in order to dive. Its tails can spin to act as a propeller, allowing it to swim and slice through obstacles like seaweed. In the DP episode Mounting a Coordinator Assault!, it is also shown to be able to fly using its spinning tail. Buizel usually lives alongside bodies of water.
Buizel can apparently both fly and propel itself through water by spinning their tails like propellers. Buizel can also use its tail for firing SonicBoom and Razor Wind attacks. It is one of the 15 Pokémon that can learn Aqua Jet.

Behavior
Evolution
In Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea, Buizel acted a bit like a dog. It came up and licked Max and messed with the Manaphy Egg as if it was a toy. By inflating its flotation sac, it keeps its face above water in order to watch for prey movement.
Buizel evolves into Floatzel.

Habitat
(For specifics on this Pokémon's Evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)
Buizel is most likely found near swift-moving rivers.

NPC appearances
It could be suggested that Buizel is a carnivore that preys on fish, but it is unknown for certain. However, it does have an affinity with the Wacan Berry, as it is occasionally found with this berry. The anime shows that Buizel also eat Oran Berries.
*Super Mystery Dungeon: Buizel is in charge of underwater explorations at the Expedition Society. He acts a mentor to the player and partner. He is brave but reckless.

In the anime
In Buizel's debut, it is one of the Pokémon owned by a family traveling circus performers during the movie, Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea. It wasn't seen performing with them; however, it was treated more like a pet.

Buizel makes an appearance in Pikachu's Island Adventure as one of the Pokémon who helps to save a playground that MTR took over.

A Buizel was seen used in a contest in Mounting a Coordinator Assault.

Dawn caught a male Buizel in Buizel Your Way Out of This. In Throwing the Track Switch, she traded him for Dawn because Buizel was more interested in Gym battles than Contests.

Buizel (Japanese: ブイゼル Buoysel) is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IV.

It evolves into Floatzel starting at level 26.

Biology

Buizel flying using its tail in Mounting a Coordinator Assault

Buizel is an orange Pokémon resembling a weasel and a sea otter. It has a yellow collar around its neck and two blue fins on its arms. Buizel has a cream-colored spot above each eye and two black parallel marks on its cheeks. The underside of its face and stomach are also cream-colored, as are the tips of its two tails. A male Buizel has two cream-colored spots on their back, while a female has only one.

In the Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl episode Mounting a Coordinator Assault!, it is also shown to be able to fly using its spinning tail. Buizel usually lives alongside bodies of water.

Trivia

Origin

Buizel seems to be based on a weasel, as well as a river otter. Its design also appears to incorporate various flotation devices, such as swim rings and inflatable armbands. Buizel's two tails can rotate like a screw similarly how boats use propellers to move by pushing water.

Name origin

Buizel and Buoysel may be combinations of buoy and weasel.
