The Rising Volt Tacklers (Japanese: ライジングボルテッカーズ Rising Volteccers) is a team of adventurers led by Friede in Pokémon Horizons: The Series. Initially, it was founded by Friede, Captain Pikachu, Orla, and Ludlow in Hoenn. The Rising Volt Tacklers travel around the world aboard their airship and base of operations, the Brave Olivine. After Liko and Roy joined them at the beginning of the series, their main mission became to find and gather the Six Heroes, which led them to become the archenemies of the Explorers.

After Friede's disappearance in Where the Adventure Leads, the Explorers framed the team as villains, which forced them to disband and its members to go their separate ways. In We Are the Rising Volt Tacklers!, the team was re-formed as most of the original members rejoined at the Brave Olivine, now with the goal to stop the Explorers' plans and reveal the truth about the Rising Volt Tacklers to the world.

Pre-series

The formation of the Rising Volt Tacklers

Sometime prior to the events of the series, the Pokémon Professor Friede was fishing in the Paldea region with his Charizard and his former mentor Ludlow. Friede met up with a teacher of his, Lucca, who wanted him to meet someone. Upon meeting a wild Pikachu trying to fly, Friede decided to do research on him and tried to befriend the Mouse Pokémon. Although he failed to befriend Pikachu, Friede didn't give up as he offered the Mouse Pokémon some food. Eventually, Friede decided to fly up to sky to see why Pikachu wanted to fly, realizing that he wanted to see the horizons. Seeing Pikachu falling, Friede and Charizard saved him, winning his friendship. Friede asked Pikachu to be his partner, which he accepted. Later, Friede asked Ludlow if he can have his boat and was okay with it. The two arrived in Slateport City in Hoenn where Friede met up with his childhood friend Orla and asked her to turn Ludlow's boat into an airship. Through her help, the boat turned into the Brave Olivine and the four of them formed the Rising Volt Tacklers. Also, Friede decided to nickname his partner Captain Pikachu.

Later, the four of them met Murdock, Wy-Yes, and Mollie as they joined the Rising Volt Tacklers, but Wy-Yes eventually decided to leave the team in order to become a journalist for the Occulture. Sometime after Wy-Yes left, Murdock's niece Dot (who is a well known streamer known as Nidothing) joined the Rising Volt Tacklers. During their adventures, the Rising Volt Tacklers had various Pokémon from all the different regions settle in with them when they decided to make the Brave Olivine their home. One day, Friede was contacted by Lucca, who was reached out by her mother, Diana, as she asked him to bring her daughter Liko, who was attending Indigo Academy in the Kanto region, to Paldea and protect her during the journey there.

Pokémon Horizons: The Series

Friede facing the Explorers for the first time

The Rising Volt Tacklers debuted in The Pendant That Starts It All (Part One). They first appeared looking for Liko at Indigo Academy, but they failed to find her because all the students were wearing the same uniforms. Despite this, they decided to try again in finding Liko during the school break with Friede going back to Indigo Academy by himself in order to find her. When Liko clashed with the members of the Explorers, Friede appeared to help her. After nearly getting hit by Ceruledge's Psycho Cut, Liko and her Sprigatito were protected by the power of her mysterious pendant.

In the following episode, Friede took Liko to the Rising Volt Tacklers' airship, where she had her first interaction with the rest of the group. Before Liko could ask more about them, the ship was intercepted by members of the Explorers and another battle between Friede and Amethio ensued. After Liko almost gave herself to the Explorers, her Sprigatito unleashed a Leafage strong enough to break the force field around the Wing Deck, but got blown overboard in the process, allowing Amethio to capture her before fleeing with his group.

In For Sure! 'Cause Sprigatito's with Me!, Friede revealed that Liko's mother hired the Rising Volt Tacklers to protect her. The group went to the city where the Explorers were last seen, and Murdock's Rockruff managed to smell Sprigatito's scent in Onia. Friede, Liko, and Rockruff chased her back to their temporary base, where Friede engaged Amethio again in a battle to allow for Liko and Rockruff to find where Sprigatito was held captive. After being reunited with her Pokémon, Liko decided to trust in the Rising Volt Tacklers and became part of the group, whose next destination was Paldea.

The Rising Volt Tacklers meet the Black Rayquaza for the first time

Throughout their journey to get Liko to Paldea, the Rising Volt Tacklers met a boy named Roy on an island in Kanto as he helped them repair their ship. Roy eventually decided to join the Rising Volt Tacklers on their adventures, after forming a bond with a Fuecoco that lived with them as he became his first Pokémon and an encounter with a Black Rayquaza that came out of his Ancient Poké Ball. The Rising Volt Tacklers helped Liko and Roy become better at Pokémon battles. In addition, Liko and Roy learned of the existence of Dot (who was hiding in her room from the rest of the crew and Liko and Roy up until that point) as they attempted to make friends with her.

In Welcome to Paldea!, the Rising Volt Tacklers arrived in Paldea. After Friede failed to reach Liko's mother, they decided to head over to her house as Alex, her father, was home. However, Liko overheard Alex talking to Friede, as he expressed how worried he was about her being on her own and expressed a desire for her to attend school in Paldea. Liko decided to head back to the ship for the night, but was not able to fall sleep. Through Orla and Mollie's advice and a drawing Dot made for her, Liko made up her mind as she left the ship to go back home to tell Alex her decision. Upon arriving home, Liko told her father that she wanted to continue traveling with the Rising Volt Tacklers and attend online classes at the Indigo Academy, which he understood and accepted her decision.

Liko and Roy with Lucius's Arboliva

Following a lead from Alex and Brassius about the Black Rayquaza, the Rising Volt Tacklers investigated Arboliva's Forest where they met a giant Arboliva that had another Ancient Poké Ball and saw the damage that a forest fire caused to it. The Rising Volt Tacklers worked together to restore the forest and eventually witnessed Liko's pendant reveal an unknown Pokémon, which showed her and Roy a vision. After Arboliva decided to join them, Liko and Roy discovered that it and the Black Rayquaza belonged to Lucius, the Ancient Adventurer. Friede also found out about this through Lucca as she told him that she knew the legend thanks to her mother. Liko decided to meet with her grandmother in Galar to learn more about her pendant.

However, before they could set off for Galar, they were ambushed by Spinel of the Explorers who was able to steal Liko's pendant by using his Beheeyem to put her in a trance, which led her to lose part of her memory. While most of the crew was searching for Liko, Dot had some help in streamer and Levincia Gym Leader Iono in finding her. Dot decided to leave the airship in order to find Liko, causing Roy to finally meet her in person. Meanwhile, Liko was able to recover the memories she lost while under Beheeyem's trance and met up with Roy and Dot, meeting the latter for the first time. After reuniting with Friede, Liko realized that her pendant was stolen, so the Rising Volt Tacklers made a plan to get it back from Spinel. Dot officially became a Pokémon Trainer with the Quaxly that have been living with the Rising Volt Tacklers as her first Pokémon. After they managed to get Liko's pendant back from Spinel, the Rising Volt Tacklers set off for the Galar region.

The Rising Volt Tacklers battling Lucius's Moltres

During their journey to Galar, the younger members became curious as to how Captain Pikachu was able to fly during a battle against Roy's Fuecoco and Wattrel. After failing to get an answer from Friede, Liko, Roy, and Dot asked the rest of the members, but no luck. However, their question did get the rest of the members curious as well, turning to Friede for answers. Although he was reluctant to answer their question, Friede decided to tell them as to how he met Captain Pikachu and the formation of the Rising Volt Tacklers. In The Bittersweet Truth, the Rising Volt Tacklers arrived in Galar. They decided that their first stop was at Motostoke before heading to Hammerlocke by train.

However, after hearing from Kabu that he saw the Black Rayquaza flying to the west of Motostoke, they decided to take a detour to the Galar Mine. Here, Liko, Roy, and Friede encountered the Explorers again and they battle them. However, a Galarian Moltres that had an Ancient Poké Ball arrived and attacked them, which led to Captain Pikachu getting injured. Fortunately, Liko and Roy managed to bring Captain Pikachu out of the mine while Friede continued his battle against Amethio. After recovering at the Motostoke's Pokémon Center, Liko and Roy reunited with Friede and the three of them decided to confront Moltres again in order to calm it down. Through their teamwork, they were able to do it. After Terapagos reappeared, they saw a vision and Moltres decided to join them, returning to its Ancient Poké Ball. However, Terapagos didn't return to its pendant form, as Hatenna sensed its presence and revealed it to her Trainer. Friede hid Terapagos while he, Liko, and Roy decided to take it to the Brave Olivine.

The Rising Volt Tacklers properly meeting Terapagos

After showing the rest of their teammates Terapagos, Liko, Roy, and Friede headed for Hammerlocke to find the ancient castle that Diana was at. Through her Squawkabilly, they were able to meet with Diana, who explained her past and the history of Terapagos. However, they were ambushed by the Explorers, who followed them to their location in order to take Terapagos. Fortunately, they were able to escape with Diana joining them as she showed Liko information about Lucius and his remaining Pokémon. After Terapagos did some exploring of its surroundings, Diana gave Liko a belt that was owned by Lucius to hold the Ancient Poké Balls. Liko then told her friends that she wanted to find Lucius's remaining Pokémon and look for Laqua, which they agreed. However, due to not having a lot of information of the three remaining Pokémon, they decided to continue pursuing Black Rayquaza. After Dot got misled in finding information about the Black Rayquaza's whereabouts, Roy decided to ask someone if they knew anything about the Ancient Poké Balls, which Diana tells him that she knows someone who could help. However, Diana's friend Tepen turned out to have turned into stealing. Fortunately, Liko, Diana, and their friends helped Tepen realize the error of his ways. Although Tepen wasn't able to help them get information about the Ancient Poké Balls, Liko and her friends were able to get intel on a contact of his. Through Tepen's information, Liko and her friends met Karna as she designs Poké Balls, but couldn't help them with information about the Ancient Poké Balls either.

The Rising Volt Tacklers meeting with Lucius's Lapras and its "pirate crew"

Due to not getting the information they needed about the Ancient Poké Balls, the Rising Volt Tacklers decided to continue their search for the remaining Six Heroes. Also, the Rising Volt Tacklers took in a wild Polteageist and Sinistea that decided to live on the Brave Olivine. Eventually, the Rising Volt Tacklers got information about a Lapras and they realized that it had to be one of Lucius's Pokémon, so they decided to investigate. After finding it, they failed to see it because of the Mist covering it and the younger members witnessed two Pokémon appearing on the ship. However, through Friede's plan, the Rising Volt Tacklers were able to see Lapras with scars and they found out that it used the mist to cover any ship that went nearby to give to its fellow Pokémon the chance to steal the food cargo on them. After preventing the group from stealing anything, the Rising Volt Tacklers followed Lapras and its group. However, they were stopped when Lapras used Ice Beam on the ship. Liko, Roy, and Friede decided to confront Lapras on their own. Terapagos attempted to reason with Lapras, even bringing out Arboliva and Moltres for help. Liko, Roy, and Friede were then shown another vision of Lucius. After spending time with Lapras and its friends, the Rising Volt Tacklers got ready to leave. However, Lapras decided to join them as its friends encouraged to go with them and it returned into its Ancient Poké Ball.

Terapagos facing the Black Rayquaza

Before setting off, the Rising Volt Tacklers witnessed the Black Rayquaza arriving to their location. However, after Amethio battled and got defeated by the Black Rayquaza, the Rising Volt Tacklers witnessed Terapagos transforming and battling the Legendary Pokémon. Unfortunately, Terapagos collapsed and the Black Rayquaza left. Later, Diana told Friede that she was planning to travel alone again, which he understood and accepted her decision. The next day, Liko and Roy did a training battle with Diana, which led them to victory when Sprigatito landed a hit on Diana's Arcanine. After the battle, Liko and Roy thanked Diana for the experience, as it will help them be better Trainers. Upon hearing of Diana's departure, Liko and Roy decided to do a surprise farewell party. Through the rest of the members help, Liko and Roy were able to surprise Diana, which she appreciated. Before leaving, Diana gave Liko her adventure log. After dropping Diana off, the Rising Volt Tacklers agree to continue their search for the remaining Six Heroes. However, before doing so, the Rising Volt Tacklers decided to return to Paldea for information on Terapagos.

During their return journey to Paldea, the Rising Volt Tacklers began to run out of funds needed to pay for supplies, so the adults decided to take some jobs in order to raise money. After Friede got a job request from a friend of his, he took the assignment with Liko and Roy accompanying him. They were able to fulfill the job and stop a group of Pokémon hunters. Also, Friede got another job assignment from another friend of his who is the leader of a group of archeologists, as they were having trouble with a group of Sandile and its evolved forms. Fortunately, Roy found out the problem but, to their disappointment, for this reason the Rising Volt Tacklers were no longer needed to do the job. Also, the Rising Volt Tacklers took in a wild Maushold when it decided to come live on the Brave Olivine. In addition, Dot was reunited with her mother, as she came to bring her home because her time with the team was a trial period, but let her stay as a permanent member of the team, after seeing her friendship with her Pokémon partners, Quaxly and Tinkatink, Liko, and Roy, and having a battle against each other.

The Rising Volt Tacklers battling the Black Rayquaza for the first time

In Transform! Hero of the Seas, Palafin, the Rising Volt Tacklers arrived back in Paldea. Sometime after returning to Paldea, the team learned of the Explorers' plan to capture the Black Rayquaza and decided to investigate a mysterious tower they had built near Levincia. However, when Friede entered the tower, it turned out to actually be a trap set up by Spinel, locking Friede up inside while the rest of the Explorers admins started the capture operation at a lighthouse outside of Levincia. Liko, Roy, and Ludlow hurried to the site to stop them, with the rest of the team moving the Brave Olivine to the site as well to allow Dot to jump down to the lighthouse and use a shutdown program on the device the Explorers had used to summon Rayquaza. While Friede successfully escaped from Spinel's trap and Roy managed to stop Chalce from catching Rayquaza, things quickly took a turn for the worse when Rayquaza's Draco Meteor shower started devastating the scenery and Coral made a reckless attack on Rayquaza in a rage by having her Glalie use Self-Destruct, sending Rayquaza crashing straight into the Brave Olivine and severely damaging it. Fortunately, Murdock was able to safely land the Brave Olivine. After the Explorers retreated, Liko, Roy, Dot and Friede battled Rayquaza. Despite having help from Amethio, the four of them couldn't defeat Rayquaza, and the Legendary Pokémon left once again. In the aftermath of the battle, Liko, Roy, and Dot decided to learn more about the Terastal phenomenon and be able to use it in battle. As such, they went to study at Naranja Academy, while the rest of the Rising Volt Tacklers focused on repairing the Brave Olivine.

Liko, Roy, and Dot battling Lucius's Kleavor

During their time doing repairs to the airship, the Rising Volt Tacklers took a group of wild Tatsugiri as new traveling companions. After the repairs on the Brave Olivine were finished and the younger members were done with their studies at Naranja Academy, the Rising Volt Tacklers set off to search for the Six Heroes once more in Into a New Sky! The Brave Olivine!. Their first destination was the land of Kitakami, planning to meet up with the Terapagos researcher Briar. After arriving in Kitakami and spending an evening at the local Countryside Harvest Festival, the team learned from Carmine that Briar was currently at the Crystal Pool on Oni Mountain. Friede and the junior members of the team subsequently traveled there, meeting Briar and exchanging information about Terapagos with her. While both sides learned a lot, the Rising Volt Tacklers didn't gain any new leads, so they decided to focus on finding the remaining three members of the Six Heroes for now.

Through an unexpected stroke of luck, Dot discovered that a photographer named Perrin had seen Kleavor in Kitakami. Through Perrin's help, Liko, Roy, Dot, and Friede found Kleavor. After some convincing from Lapras, having a battle with the younger members of the Rising Volt Tacklers and seeing Liko's selfness for Pokémon, Kleavor showed her, Roy, Dot, and Friede a vision of Lucius of the day they meet. Kleavor then decided to join the group and it returned to its Ancient Poké Ball.

The Rising Volt Tacklers and Diana summoning Rystal at the Crystal Pool

The next day, Liko and her friends reunite with Diana, as they exchanged information about the Explorers. After returning to the Crystal Pool and were able to summon Rystal, a member of the original Explorers, Liko and the group found out that she and Lucius were her great-great grandparents. Liko and the group then listened to Rystal telling everyone how she formed the Explorers with Lucius and Gibeon and they were able to reach Laqua. However, Liko and the group had to bid farewell to Rystal when she had to return to her proper time. Liko and the group then bid farewell to Diana, as she intended to continue traveling her own way. Through Wy-Yes's help, the Rising Volt Tacklers decided to head to Olivine City in the Johto region in order to search for Entei. In Ludlow's Homecoming!, the Rising Volt Tacklers arrived in Johto. After falling to find Entei in Johto, the Rising Volt Tacklers head back to Paldea when Briar revealed that a Pokémon similar to Entei had been spotted in Area Zero.

The Rising Volt Tacklers battling the Black Rayquaza for the second time

In Over the Top!, the Rising Volt Tacklers arrived back to Paldea. After Liko, Roy, and Dot defeated Geeta, together with Friede, they entered Area Zero and met up with Briar. Upon finding the Pokémon similar to Entei, they realized that it was a Paradox Pokémon named Gouging Fire. The four Rising Volt Tacklers battled Gouging Fire when it wanted to test their strength. Through their teamwork, they defeated Gouging Fire, who showed them a vision of when it first met Lucius. Gouging Fire then decided to join the group and returned to its Ancient Poké Ball. However, it and the rest of the Six Heroes come out to summon the Black Rayquaza, who arrived at the group's location. Liko, Roy, Dot, and Friede battled the Black Rayquaza once again and, after a tough battle, they were able to return Rayquaza to its Ancient Poké Ball. Rayquaza then showed them a vision of the original Explorers reaching Laqua. The group then bid farewell to Briar and, following Rayquaza, made their way to the paradise.

The Rising Volt Tacklers and Amethio battling Gibeon and his White Zygarde

In Where the Land Meets the Sky, after stopping at Pericarp Town near Laqua, Friede and the younger members journeyed to the paradise, with the Six Heroes helping along the way. Upon entering Laqua, Friede and the younger members explored until they came across the barrier, which Pagogo removed. However, Friede and the younger members were then confronted by the Explorers. Although they were able to defeat the Explorers admins, Friede and the younger members were too late to prevent Gibeon from reaching the Laquium. Fortunately, Gibeon's Zygarde was only trying to free Lucius from the Laquium. Friede and the younger members met Lucius, as he explained to them that he was able to see the outside world through Zygarde. Due to Friede's partners going berserk from the Laquium and knocking each other out, the younger members with Amethio battled Gibeon. However, Zygarde forfeited the battle because it was testing their strength and resolve, as it bid its Trainer farewell and disassembled itself.

In Where the Adventure Leads, Spinel released his own supply of Laquium that he had gathered after Pagogo and the Six Heroes purified the land. This act caused the Six Heroes, barring Rayquaza, to go berserk and indiscriminately attack anything in their sight. Rayquaza shielded the Rising Volt Tacklers from its comrades' attacks and ordered them to escape, but as the Brave Olivine attempted to leave, a strong gust of wind caught Friede and his Pokémon off-guard. Friede managed to get Captain Pikachu to safety before he and Charizard were blown off the ship. Afterwards, the group started flying around the area looking for Friede, but couldn't find him. Meanwhile, Spinel had the entire area around Laqua closed off, and later publicly framed the Rising Volt Tacklers for the destruction at Laqua, casting them as a dangerous group to the public eye. With their original task completed and being unable to function without Friede, the group made the decision to disband; Liko returned to Indigo Academy, Roy going on a training journey in the Kalos region, and Dot returning to her home.

The Rising Volt Tacklers re-formed by Roy, Dot, and Liko

A year after the events at Laqua, in Eyes to the Skies Once Again, Part 1, Dot and Roy discovered a case of Laquium affecting a wild Slaking, and after the boy and Ult defeated it, Roy decided to visit the Indigo Academy to ask for Liko's help in finding more signs of Laquium. After reuniting with her, Roy explained the situation. At first, Liko refused to help him and Dot, as she was accustomed to being at Indigo Academy and didn't want everyone there to know she was a Rising Volt Tackler out of fear of bearing the group's tarnished reputation. However, after seeing Roy battling Ann and having a battle against him herself, Liko ultimately decided to join and assist in clearing the group's name while revealing the truth to the public.

In Following Traces of Laquium, Liko and Roy tracked down a Laquium sign that Dot found, and ended up battling a pair of Laquium affected Steelix, alongside Ult, who had been following Roy. In the process, Roy and Ult showcased Mega Evolution, with Liko learning about it for the first time.

In The Pokémon Center Lady, Liko and Roy reunited with Mollie, who had returned to the family Pokémon Center at Uirō City. Mollie disapproved of their decision to restart the team, but after working together to calm a Laquium-afflicted Vileplume down, ultimately respected their decision. The two offered her a spot back in the team, but she declined for the time being, as she knew that she needed to be at the Pokémon Center. Before they parted ways, she promised to them that she would return when the team was fully reunited.

Ult joining the Rising Volt Tacklers

In The Strong Sphere, after Ult saw the effects of the Strong Sphere on Pokémon, he saved Liko and Roy after their Pokémon were defeated in a Double Battle by Coral and Sidian. He proceeded to join the two on their journey. In Crash! Team Dragon Rampage!, after Liko and Roy reunited with the Black Rayquaza, which was under the protection of Team Dragon Rampage, Dot called and informed the two that Murdock had returned to Cortondo to work with Katy. In Reunion in Cortondo, the three and Ult met with Murdock at Cortondo. Like Mollie, Murdock disapproved of their decision to restart the team, despite Liko's insistence that they knew what they were getting into. Katy suggested a Pokémon battle to alleviate Murdock's concerns, and in the official rematch, Liko defeated Katy. Impressed by her growth, Murdock ultimately respected their decision and informed them that the Brave Olivine had been dismantled, with its parts being stored in Galar. With this knowledge in hand, the group decided to look for Orla and left Cortondo. Murdock confessed to Katy that he wanted to travel with them despite the fact that he suggested that they disband after the events in Laqua, fearing that he would hold them back. Katy told Murdock that the others had already done so despite their circumstances, causing him to realize the meaning of her words.

In Orla, Grounded, Liko, Roy, Dot, and Ult went to Galar to look for Orla, and it was revealed that Orla had lied about the ship's condition. Rather than dismantling it, she had kept it hidden in a forest, maintaining it from time to time, and the wild Pokémon (apart from Maushold) remained onboard. After Liko, Roy, Dot, and Ult defeated two members of the Explorers, Indy and Rubella, Orla decided to join them in officially re-forming the Rising Volt Tacklers, as the five worked together to clean and rebuild the Brave Olivine. Ludlow, Murdock, and Mollie returned to the team, with Ult deciding to become an official member of the group. Dot then discovered a message had been sent to their app a month prior. After decrypting it and showing it to everyone else, they found out that it was from Friede, who was revealed to be alive and well but in hiding from the Explorers.

Dot, Liko, Roy, and Ult deciding to train at Blueberry Academy in Unova

In HZ101, the Rising Volt Tacklers arrived back to Paldea through Dot's suggestion in going to Naranja Academy because everyone there knows the Explorers true nature. Although Dot is able to give Geeta and Clavell the information she had on Laquium and while they understand the situation, they aren't able to help them further without more evidence, but they recommended asking Jacq for help in their research, which he accepted. Dot also gets a map of Paldea from Penny that shows Laquium Signs around the region. After returning to the Brave Olivine, the younger members decided to check out a Laquium Sign near their location. During their investigation, Dot reminds everyone that they need funds to travel around if they want to spread the truth about Laquium, as Roy remembers that most of their funds came from Friede and Captain Pikachu doing various jobs. Later, after Liko, her Pokémon and a Charcadet, who decided to become one of her partners, stopped the Laquium Sign, Dot gets a video message from Iono asking for a handshake event as their next collaboration, which she reluctantly agrees to hold it as a means to earn some money. Also, a wild Gimmighoul stowed away on the Brave Olivine until Dot decided to add it to her team.

After Roy and Ult infiltrated an Explorers base, Diana comes for a visit to give the Rising Volt Tacklers information on how to eliminate Laquium once and for all. Also, Diana tells the Rising Volt Tacklers that Spinel has the remaining Six Heroes held captive with Ult backing up her claim, as he saw Lapras and Kleavor trapped in boxes when he was in the Explorers base. Wanting to save the remaining Six Heroes from the Explorers, the Rising Volt Tacklers agreed to find which Exceed building they are being held in, as they realized that Spinel moved them in order to prevent them from finding them. Liko suggests they ask Cervantis, the former Exceed director and Amethio's father, which they agreed. However, Liko, Roy, and Ult walked into a trap the Explorers set up for them by faking an email sent by Cervantis. Liko, Roy, and Ult were forced to battle five of the Six Heroes when they used a new improved Strong Sphere called Super Strong Sphere on them to turn them against them. Despite their efforts and help from Amethio, Liko, Roy, and Ult's Pokémon are knocked out by five of the Six Heroes with Coral and Sidian's help. However, the effects of the Super Strong Sphere on five of the Six Heroes wears off and the Explorers left with them. Despite the loss, Liko, Roy, Ult, and Dot decided to do battle training at Blueberry Academy in the Unova region after getting a call from Briar. Also, Liko revealed to Roy and Dot that their friend Ann is at Blueberry Academy as an exchange student.

In HZ115, the Rising Volt Tacklers arrived in Unova, as the older members dropped off the junior members at Blueberry Academy while they dock near a town for repairs and supplies.

In HZ119, the Rising Volt Tacklers along with Penny and Carmine attend a meeting with Briar whom explains that Diana's theory in HZ108 about Pagogo possibly needing to resonate with 18 Pokemon Types was only half correct. Briar clarifies that Pagogo needs to resonate with 18 different Tera Types from Pokémon at the level of the Six Heroes in order to completely purify Laquium.

She returned in The Three Explorers to tell the group about some information she got about the Explorers. In The Wonders of the World!, she also got the chance to meet her grandmother Rystal alongside them at the Crystal Pool.

Athough he had officially been a member of the Explorers and thus a adversary to the Rising Volt Tacklers during their group encounters, Amethio himself has shown a tendency to align with its members during extraordinary situations in pursuit of his own goals. In From So Far Away, he teamed up with Friede to battle the Black Rayquaza. Later, in Liko and Amethio, Amethio briefly allied himself with Liko so they could both escape a cave. Finally, in Guided by the Black Rayquaza!, Amethio decided to battle alongside the Rising Volt Tacklers to save his grandfather from himself, facing his Zygarde with Liko, Roy, and Dot.

Rystal
Rystal
Rystal is one of the original Explorers and Liko's great-great-grandmother. She has died a long time ago, but she was temporarily brought to the present by Pagogo. Six Heroes
Six Heroes
The Six Heroes are a group of Pokémon that once belonged to the Ancient Adventurer, Lucius. It consists of Rayquaza, Arboliva, Moltres, Lapras, Kleavor, and Gouging Fire and were scattered throughout the Pokémon world. In Beyond the Shining Rainbow, Liko, Roy, Dot, and Friede managed to reunite them all after encountering Gouging Fire and battling Rayquaza in Area Zero.
Zirc and Onia
Zirc and Onia
In Guided by the Black Rayquaza!, Amethio's agents Zirc and Onia broke ranks to assist Liko, Roy, and Dot against the other Explorers admins in Laqua. After that particular moment, the two groups developed a mutual respect for each other. A year later, in HZ103, in Levincia, the duo had Liko and Roy's help in recovering a ticket for an event in the city. Later, Zirc and Onia asked Liko for help in finding Amethio, who refused to return to the Explorers after escaping Laqua and had since been out of contact with the duo.
Lucius
Lucius
Lucius's actions and achievements were the main motivation for the group during the events of Pokémon Horizons: The Series. During the climax of the battle in Laqua, Liko and the others discovered that Lucius was still alive, and that he was actually Liko's great-great-grandfather. He joined the Rising Volt Tacklers in the final battle against Gibeon and the other Explorers before fading away with Gibeon due to the Laquium's destruction. He is indirectly responsible for the Rising Volt Tacklers' formation and adventures.
