Aeos Island (Japanese: エオス島 Aeos Island) is the main setting of Pokémon UNITE. It is described as a mythical island located on the far, unexplored frontiers of the ocean.[1]

A powerful energy known as Aeos energy permeates the island, most prominently at locations known as Aeos energy spots.[2] [3] Aeos energy is a miraculous energy, capable of increasing a Pokémon's strength and enhancing their abilities.[2] It also is linked to evolution in mysterious ways, with two out of its many uses being evolving and devolving Pokémon.[4][1] The Aeos Research Institute is an organization that does further research into Aeos energy.

Aeos energy is at its strongest when Pokémon and their trainers compete against each other. [4] As such, the Unite Battle Committee organizes a series of Unite Battle tournaments, where Aeos energy is incorporated into the the battling.[1] [5]. These Unite Battles take place at one of many stadiums, which are built on the sites of Aeos energy spots.[1].[3] Some of these are not "new" buildings, or even buildings to begin with: the Theia Sky Ruins stadium was retrofitted from an abandoned ruin, while Shivre City and Auroma Park are entirely outdoors.[3] Unite Battles were created by two of the island's scientists: Professor Phorus and her assistant Erbie. [4] [6]

Unite Battles are an export of Aeos Island, with fans viewing them from many other regions of the world.[1]. Some of those fans dream of participating themselves, and a portion of said fans indeed come on over to Aeos Island to join the competition. [1] The player character in UNITE is one such example.[1]

On top of these stadiums, several stores on the island sell useful items for Unite Battles. The Unite Battle Committee shop sells Unite Licenses to trainers, so that they can take different species of Pokémon into Unite Battles. Zirco Trading uses Aeos energy to create Holowear, holographic clothing that Pokémon can wear in Unite Battles without weighing them down.[1][7] Lastly, Aeos Emporium sells almost everything else a Trainer could need, be that Held items and Item Enhancers to give Pokémon an edge in battle or various clothing and accessories so that Trainers can look as sharp as their Pokémon.

Aeos Island deals in the currencies of Aeos coins, Aeos tickets, and Aeos gems. Almost every store is willing to take Aeos gems. Otherwise the Unite Battle Committee primarily deals in Aeos coins while Aeos Emporium accepts both Aeos coins and Aeos tickets.[1]
