Alex

Alex (Japanese: アズマ Azuma) is a character of the day who appeared in Taming of the Shroomish.

Alex in his youth

When Alex was a little boy, he used to play with many Shroomish that shared a mansion with his grandfather. Unfortunately, as time went on, the forest around the mansion was being cut down to make way for buildings. Eventually, all of the Shroomish left the mansion.

By the events of the episode, the city was planning on tearing down the mansion that Alex's grandfather had lived in. However, these plans were marred by strange occurrences, and the workers complaining of feeling sick from the mansion. Alex would occasionally check up things to see if anything strange would happen. One day, he happened to come across Ash and Max, who were standing in the garden of the mansion. He asked what they were doing there and they said that a Shroomish jumped in the window. Alex didn't believe them but decided to check it out anyway.

Inside the mansion, they all soon found the Shroomish that Max was taking care of. Alex was surprised that a Shroomish had returned to the mansion. They then discovered that not only was this Shroomish living in the mansion, but a large group of them as well. It was then revealed that the reason behind the workers' sicknesses was the Stun Spore emanated from the Shroomish.

Eventually, Alex stopped the demolition of the mansion and decided to live in it with the Shroomish, like he did when he was little.

Alex has befriended many Shroomish. Max met one seemingly unhappy Shroomish while returning from a burger run with Ash. Max wanted to feed it and make friends with it, so Ash gave Max some Pokémon food to feed it. Shroomish was suspicious and used Stun Spore; causing Ash and Max to quickly back away in surprise.

Ash and Max noted that Shroomish was in the city instead of the forest, where its kind normally would live. Figuring that it might have been separated from its Trainer, they decided that they should take it to a Pokémon Center. Max took out a handkerchief and tied it around the top of Shroomish's head as a gift. The gift made Shroomish very happy. Max then picked up Shroomish and they headed off.

After another failed Pika-Team Rocket plan, Shroomish, still in Max's arms, got very distressed and ran off. Ash and Max followed it. Shroomish then went into the mansion through a broken window. In the end, Shroomish stayed in the mansion with Alex who promised to replant the forest.

Shroomish's known moves are Stun Spore and Leech Seed.
