Indi (Japanese: インディ Indi) is a recurring antagonist who first appeared in Orla, Grounded. He is a member of the Explorers and is commonly seen at Rubina's side.

History

Indi and Rubina battling together

Indi debuted in Orla, Grounded, alongside Rubina. During an argument between Karna and a pair of Exceed subordinates, they intervened in order to convince Karna to deliver the Strong Sphere parts. However, they soon found out Liko and Roy of the Rising Volt Tacklers being there and immediately engaged in battle against them, Dot, and Ult, using their Strong Spheres to power up their Paldean Tauros. The battle properly started in the next episode, where they ended up being defeated after their opponents discovered the pattern behind the Tauros's attacks. After retreating, they reported back to Spinel.

In The Dusk Ball That Wouldn't Open, Indi and Rubina spotted Rayu trying to trade a Dusk Ball housing a powerful Pokémon for a Strong Sphere. Indi was seemingly about to accept the offer, only for Ult to show up, declaring himself as the Dusk Ball's owner. Recognizing him as a Rising Volt Tackler, they put away the Dusk Ball and prepared for battle, powering up their Darmanitan with their Strong Spheres. They managed to overpower Ult in numbers and raw strength, but Ult managed to still win once his Dragonite emerged from the Dusk Ball, reacting with its Trainer's willingness to fight for others, forcing Rubina and Indi to retreat. In the next episode, Indi and Rubina fought against Ult and Roy, this time with each other's Darmanitan in their Zen Mode. Due to the assistance of a Rabsca army, they managed to keep the upper hand for the majority of the battle, only to lose once more as Ult's Dragonite reappeared and Mega Evolved alongside Roy's Lucario.

In Tinkatuff's Hammer Wasn't Made in a Year!, Indi and Rubina appeared at the entrance of the Exceed distribution center as soon as Liko, Roy, and Ult arrived at the location. In the next episode, Indi with Rubina and three other grunts used a new version of Strong Spheres called Super Strong Spheres on five of the Six Heroes to battle them. In the following episode, Indi and Rubina with their group were forced to retreat when the Super Strong Spheres wears off on five of the Six Heroes, even though they knocked out all of their and Amethio's with Coral and Sidian's help.

In HZ120, Indi managed to intercept an invasion of Dot and Penny at the Exceed Museum along with Rubina and Chalce. After a battle against the two Trainers' Pokémon, Chalce managed to separate Dot from her friend and leave the rest to him and Rubina. However, Penny and her Sylveon and Jolteon defeated Indi's Drapion and Rubina's Scolipede before Dot and Penny escaped with the Laquium data thanks to her newly-evolved Gholdengo.

In HZ124, Indi and Rubina battled against Amethio and Liko with their Salamence using Strong Sphere on them, however, after Liko's Charcadet evolved into Armarouge and learned Armor Cannon, their Salamence were defeated.

In HZ125, Indi used a Super Strong Sphere on Lucius's Lapras, pitting her against Amethio and the White Zygarde. After it was defeated, Indi used another Super Strong Sphere on it under Spinel's orders, but the Explorers were thwarted through the combined efforts of the White Zygarde and Pagogo.

Character

Indi has a stoic personality and is quite cold and calculating. Due to their use of Strong Spheres, both he and Rubina battle without issuing actual instructions to their Pokémon, instead making them rely on their natural instincts, which makes battling against them hard to predict at times. As seen in Friends as Two, Me and You, he is quite selective with the colors of the Pokémon he uses and is willing to swap Pokémon if it better fits his color scheme.

In HZ124, he is shown to be arrogant and ignorant to the condition of his Pokémon as he was ignorant about the state of his Salamence saying that the Strong Sphere guarantees victory even after being proven wrong multiple times. Despite his cold and stoic personality, Indi is loyal to Spinel and follows his orders without question.

Indi used Rubina's Darmanitan in Friends as Two, Me and You during their battle against Ult and Roy. At the very start of the battle, it transformed into its Zen Mode. Darmanitan was able to shrug off attacks due to its physical resistance and assisted its teammate by using Psychic on it, allowing it to move unimpeded by Gravity and overpower its opponents. At the end, however, it was defeated by Ult's Mega Dragonite and Roy's Mega Lucario.

Darmanitan's known moves are Fire Punch and Psychic, and its Ability is Zen Mode.

Other

Rabsca (×4)
Indi's Rabsca

These Rabsca were used by Indi and Rubina as part of a strategy to impede Roy and Ult's Pokémon's movements. They were quickly defeated by Ult's Mega Dragonite. It is unknown whether these Pokémon actually belong to the duo or are part of the Pokémon at the Explorers's base.

All four Rabsca know the move Gravity, with one of them also knowing Revival Blessing.
