Swalot (Japanese: マルノーム Marunoom) is a Poison Pokémon introduced in Generation III.

It evolves from Gulpin starting at level 26.

Biology
Physiology
Swalot is a tall, purple, amorphous Pokémon. It has red, beady eyes and yellow whiskers. A female Swalot has shorter whiskers than a male. It has puckered lips and can fit an automobile tire in its mouth. Its hands have three fingers. It has a single row of black rhombi running across its midsection, and it can expand and contract its body at will.
Swalot is a tall, purple, blob-like Pokémon. It has a single row of black rhombuses running across what would be its mid-section. Swalot's hands have three fingers instead of two. Swalot has red, beady eyes and yellow whiskers.

Gender differences
Swalot is capable of swallowing anything whole and can digest anything except its own stomach lining. It covers prey and opponents with a powerful poison. It likes eating poisoned and poisonous things. It lives in List of Pokémon by habitat. As mentioned in the Sleep Style Dex, Swalot sometimes sleeps with its mouth wide open. It is believed that Swalot is dreaming of a huge meal it is attempting to swallow whole.
A female Swalot has shorter whiskers than a male.
Evolution
Swalot evolves from Gulpin.

Special abilities
(For specifics on this Pokémon's Evolution in the games, refer to Game data&rarr;Evolution data.)
Swalot's large, cavernous mouth can easily gulp down something as large as a car tire. Its stomach acid can dissolve virtually anything, except for the lining of its stomach.

Behavior
|no1=0316
Swalot portrays behavior similar to Gulpin. It is known to eat in large quantities, most likely because its powerful stomach can handle anything.
|name1=Gulpin

|type1-1=Poison
Habitat
|evo1=

|no2=0317
Like Gulpin, Swalot live in grassy plains. However, Swalot are a bit harder to find.

Diet
</div>
Pokémon food
Swalot, with its ability to digest anything, could theoretically eat anything. However, it seems to be carnivorous in the wild, swallowing prey whole after dousing it with poison from its pores.

Major appearances
Swalot first appeared in Deceit and Assist. The Poison Bag Pokémon belong to a Coordinator named Anthony, who used it to compete in the Grand Festival.

In From Brags to Riches, a trainer named Dominick used a Swalot and Tropius to battle Ash's Corphish and Torkoal. Corphish managed to defeat Dominick's Swalot.

Minor appearances
A Swalot that was painted to look like a Grimer was shown at the "Pokémon Cosplay Convention" in All Dressed Up With Somewhere To Go.

Paul's brother, Reggie, also owns a Swalot which appeared in Lost Leader Strategy!

In the manga
In the Pokémon Adventures manga
Unlike its Gulpin, Swalot has only made one key appearance in the Pokémon Adventures manga, being one of the Factory Pokémon fighting Pike Queen Lucy and Palace Maven Spenser. Although it seemingly won using a Hyper Beam after putting the former's Seviper to sleep, the serpent awoke using its Shed Skin ability and counterattacked with a Dig maneuver, defeating it.

Trivia
*Swalot is the only Pokémon with a base stat total of 467.
* Swalot is the only Pokémon with a base stat total of 467.
* The illustrator of Pokémon Adventures, Satoshi Yamamoto, uses Swalot to represent himself in the volume's comment boxes.

Origin
Origin
Swalot's appearance may be based on a single, giant poison gland. It has been compared to a blobfish by many fans, but the popular blobfish photograph is copyright 2003, which is shortly after Generation III games was released, and shows a front view of a heavily damaged specimen. Healthy blobfish bear no resemblance to Gulpin or Swalot. Swalot might be based upon a generic organism that uses pseudopodia.
Swalot may be based on myriad organs or glands, such as a stomach, a gallbladder, or a single, giant poison gland. It may also be based upon a generic organism that uses pseudopodia. Its general shape resembles a slug.

Swalot may also draw inspiration from the Nuppeppo, a yokai in Japenese folklore depicted as a blob with vestigal appendages. Other possibilities include physarum polycephalum, sometimes referred to as the predatory slime mold, a reference to the sci-film The Blob, single-celled amoeba, or the predatory tunicate.
Name origin
Name origin
Swalot may be a play on the phrase, "swallow a lot," as in consuming a large amount of food or drink.
Swalot may be a combination of swallow and a lot.

Marunoom a combination of 丸呑み marunomi (swallowing whole) and <!--kanji/katakana?-->nomu (swallow or gulp).
Marunoom may be derived from 丸呑み marunomi (swallowing whole).

Swalot (Japanese: マルノーム Marunoom) is a Poison-type Pokémon introduced in Generation III.

It evolves from Gulpin starting at level 26.

Biology

Swalot is a tall, purple, amorphous Pokémon. It has red, beady eyes and yellow whiskers. A female Swalot has shorter whiskers than a male. It has puckered lips and can fit an automobile tire in its mouth. Its hands have three fingers. It has a single row of black rhombi running across its midsection, and it can expand and contract its body at will.

Swalot is capable of swallowing anything whole and can digest anything except its own stomach lining. It covers prey and opponents with a powerful poison. It likes eating poisoned and poisonous things. It lives in grasslands and savannas. As mentioned in the Sleep Style Dex, Swalot sometimes sleeps with its mouth wide open.[1] It is believed that Swalot is dreaming of a huge meal it is attempting to swallow whole.

Evolution

Swalot evolves from Gulpin.

Trivia

 • Swalot is the only Pokémon with a base stat total of 467.
 • The illustrator of Pokémon Adventures, Satoshi Yamamoto, uses Swalot to represent himself in the volume's comment boxes.

Origin

Swalot may be based on myriad organs or glands, such as a stomach, a gallbladder, or a single, giant poison gland. It may also be based upon a generic organism that uses pseudopodia. Its general shape resembles a slug.

Swalot may also draw inspiration from the Nuppeppo, a yokai in Japenese folklore depicted as a blob with vestigal appendages. Other possibilities include physarum polycephalum, sometimes referred to as the predatory slime mold, a reference to the sci-film The Blob, single-celled amoeba, or the predatory tunicate.

Name origin

Swalot may be a combination of swallow and a lot.

Marunoom may be derived from 丸呑み marunomi (swallowing whole).
