Description | An incredibly impetuous, high-spirited young man who runs straight for what he wants without any hesitation, he has an earnest passion for Pokémon. |
Barry (Japanese: ジュン Jun) is a Pokémon Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX, based on the character of the same name in the core series games. He forms a sync pair with Piplup and its evolutions, Prinplup and Empoleon. The sync pair is obtained during the events of Chapter 2 of the Main Story. The pair's potential can be upgraded to 6★ EX from March 29, 2021, which unlocks Barry's EX style.
Barry also forms a sync pair with his Roserade. This pair can be obtained by exchanging a BP Sync Pair Voucher beginning on August 28, 2023. This pair can be raised to 6★ EX since it first released, though this pair lacks an EX style.
Barry in his Special Costume forms a sync pair with Heracross, which is capable of Mega Evolving. This pair was made available through a costume sync pair scout beginning on April 12, 2024. This pair can be raised to 6★ EX since it first released.
Barry also forms a sync pair with Floatzel. This pair can be obtained by exchanging 300 Training Tickets beginning on October 1, 2024. This pair can be raised to 6★ EX since it first released, though this pair lacks an EX style.

This section is incomplete. Please feel free to edit this section to add missing information and complete it. Reason: History & Role in Pokémon Masters EX |
History
Barry has experienced similar events to his core series counterpart. He in grew up in Twinleaf Town and became friends with Dawn, who would later become his rival. While on his journey, Barry would catch a Piplup, Staraptor,[3] Roserade, and a Heracross.[4]
Piplup → Prinplup → Empoleon
Piplup can evolve into Prinplup once it has reached level 30 through its sync pair story Piplup's Evolution, and then into Empoleon once it has reached level 45 through its sync pair story Prinplup's Evolution. Raising this sync pair to 6★ EX will unlock Song Key 04002, which allows "Battle! (Barry) (Pokémon Masters EX Version)" to be played in the Jukebox.

Trivia
- Barry's rival is Dawn, as Dawn mentions that Barry is her childhood friend.
- In his sync pair story, Barry reveals that he keeps trying to fine people because he wants to gather money for his own Battle Tower so he could challenge his father there.
- Barry's Empoleon is the only Pokémon in Pokémon Masters EX with a weakness it does not have in the core series games, as Empoleon is otherwise neutral to Grass due to its Water/Steel typing.
- Barry and Anabel are the only characters who can be battled in any area in the Battle Rally.
- Barry is the only character who can be battled at any difficulty level in any area, as Anabel cannot appear in Areas 1–9 at Normal or Hard difficulty.
- Barry's Heracross is the same one he travelled with in Sinnoh.
Origin
Barry's design is based on his appearance in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. Piplup is one of the first partner Pokémon of Sinnoh in the core series games. Piplup and its evolutions are Barry's signature Pokémon if the player chooses Chimchar as their first partner Pokémon in the Sinnoh-based core series games. In addition, Barry's animated series counterpart is depicted with an Empoleon. Piplup's Dex entry comes from Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, Prinplup's from Pokémon Diamond, and Empoleon's from Pokémon Pearl.
Roserade is a Pokémon that Barry uses in the Sinnoh-based core series games if the player chooses Turtwig or Chimchar as their first partner Pokémon. In addition, Barry's animated series counterpart is depicted with a Roserade. Roserade's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Black 2 and White 2
Floatzel is a Pokémon that Barry uses in the Sinnoh-based core series games if the player chooses Turtwig or Piplup as their first partner Pokémon. Floatzel's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Diamond.
Barry's Special Costume seems to be inspired by Kamen Rider, a Japanese superhero show. Heracross is a Pokémon Barry uses on his team beginning with his fourth battle against the player in the core series games. In addition, Barry's animated series counterpart is depicted with a Heracross. The pairing likely references how the costumes worn by the heroes in Kamen Rider resemble bugs. Heracross's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ultra Sun.
