Five Friends' Treasure Hunt (Japanese: ５人で探す新しい宝物 Search for a New Treasure with Five People) was a story event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on the sync pairs Juliana & Koraidon and Florian & Miraidon.

First run

The event first ran from February 17 to March 29, 2025. The "Juliana Master Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Juliana & Koraidon for the duration of the event, and the "Florian Master Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Florian & Miraidon from February 19, 2025 to the end of the event.

In this run, players could earn event points by completing battles. Players received rewards based on the number of points accumulated, including Battle Points, 5★ Scout Tickets, a 5★ Power-Up, medals, sync orbs for Florian & Miraidon and Juliana & Koraidon, skill gear, and a Strike Move Candy Coin. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Extreme Battle 1, which could only be challenged once per day.

The player could battle using Florian & Miraidon or Juliana & Koraidon to obtain +0.6× bonus points; Penny & Sylveon, Arven & Mabosstiff, Nemona & Pawmot, Brendan & Treecko/Grovyle/Sceptile, May & Mudkip/Marshtomp/Swampert, or Wally & Gallade to obtain +0.4× bonus points; and any unlisted Paldea or Hoenn sync pairs to obtain +0.2× bonus points.

This event featured the Battle Challenge, where players were challenged to defeat a team of strong opponents. Players could complete event missions by clearing these areas with one or fewer sync pairs fainting and sync pairs with specific theme skills on the team. Event mission rewards included 5★ Scout Tickets, a 5★ Power-Up, a Tech Move Candy Coin, a Support Move Candy Coin, and Gems.

From the beginning of this run to March 20, 2025, a splash screen featuring art of Juliana & Koraidon and Florian & Miraidon was displayed when opening the game.

Second run

The event reran from August 19 to 28, 2025. The "Florian Master Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Florian & Miraidon for the duration of the event, and the "Juliana Master Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Juliana & Koraidon for the duration of the event.

In this run, the sync orbs were replaced with Yellow Skill Feathers, the skill gear was replaced with 4★ Power-Ups, and the Strike Move Candy Coin was changed to a Tech Move Candy Coin. Event missions were changed to award only 5★ Scout Tickets, a 5★ Power-Up, and Gems. Everything else was the same as the previous run.

Third run

The event reran again from August 30 to September 19, 2025 as a bonus event in the Trainer Tales Championship. This run only contained the story areas; the battles and event points did not return. In addition, no missions were available, and no medals could be earned.

Fourth run

The event ran for a fourth time from April 29 to May 11, 2026 as part of the Paldea Fest Rally Story Replay. Everything was the same as the previous run.

Plot

Brendan and Wally are in a forest on Pasio, looking for a book that Wally lost. Unfortunately, even with the help of Brendan's Latios, they're unable to find it. Suddenly, a boy in a purple uniform appears with Wally's book in hand. He returns the book and introduces himself as Florian, a student from that big school in Paldea. Wally and Brendan tell Florian about Pasio Academy and invite him to attend with them, which he happily accepts. Florian reveals that Brendan and Wally are the first people he's met on Pasio, so Brendan stakes his claim as Florian's first friend and offers to introduce him to their other friend. He says they can find her by riding Latios, but Florian says he'll ride his partner Miraidon instead.

Meanwhile, May and her Latias have been walking through some ruins, and May decides to take a break and feed Latias some Pokéblocks. As she's feeding Latias, though, she's suddenly accosted by a Koraidon. Since it seems hungry, she shares some Pokéblocks with it. As Latias and Koraidon are eating, Koraidon's Trainer appears and apologizes for Koraidon eating Latias's snack. She tries to offer Latias a sandwich as compensation, but Koraidon wants a sandwich too. The Trainer introduces herself as Juliana and explains that she traveled around Paldea with Koraidon. May recalls that she met her Latias the same way she met Juliana's Koraidon—approaching her while she was feeding Pokéblocks to other Pokémon—and they laugh at the realization of how similar their Pokémon are.

Suddenly, Nemona, Arven, and Penny arrive—they saw Koraidon in the sky and followed it, hoping it meant Juliana had arrived on Pasio. Nemona wants to get straight into a battle, but Arven and Penny want to catch up with Juliana a little first. As they explain to May how they know Juliana, Brendan, Wally, and Florian arrive. May introduces Brendan and Wally to the others, but she doesn't recognize Florian. Nemona, Arven, and Penny don't recognize Florian either, which shocks Florian initially, but he quickly realizes what's going on. Arven asks if he's a student at Naranja Academy, but Florian says that he's never heard of that school. Thus, he concludes that he's in a parallel universe. He reveals that he arrived here by jumping through a weird ring and explains that he's a student from Uva Academy. He theorizes that Uva Academy and Naranja Academy are the same school, but this just confuses everyone more.

Florian asks Juliana to tell everyone about her journey in Paldea, believing that will illustrate his point. Juliana explains that she moved to Paldea, started attending Naranja Academy, met Koraidon on the beach, and went on a Treasure Hunt. She became friends with Nemona, Arven, and Penny, and they all traveled into Area Zero together. Florian says that he had basically the same experience in his universe, with the only differences being that he attended Uva Academy and met Miraidon on the beach. So, he thinks he came from a parallel universe—a different Paldea than the others. Arven says that he would be skeptical, but after everything that happened in Area Zero, it doesn't seem so unreasonable. Juliana observes that Koraidon and Miraidon are similar, but she still has trouble wrapping her head around the idea.

Then, Brendan remembers Zinnia telling him that there's a different Hoenn than the one he knows, one where Mega Evolution doesn't exist. He realizes that that's the same situation as what Florian is describing, and he thinks there are other people on Pasio who came from slightly different universes. So, he believes that Florian is telling the truth. Juliana agrees, since Koraidon has connections to other worlds, too. She asks Florian if he's scared to be in an unknown world, but Florian reveals that he promised the Nemona, Arven, and Penny in his universe that he'd return once he found a new treasure in this world. He was excited to explore an unknown world, so they sent him off with encouragement. The Arven, Penny, and Nemona from this universe understand how the other versions of them felt, and they promise to have the same relationship with Florian that their counterparts did. Brendan, May, and Wally are happy that they're all getting along, but they remind Juliana and the others that they're friends now, too. Wally suggests that they show Florian and Juliana around the island, so they all go exploring Pasio together. In the end, Juliana, Florian, and the others follow Latias and Latios together in the plains.

Juliana	Wow, you sure are hyped all of a sudden.
Penny	I vibe with his energy, though.
Florian	Umm, let me start over. I'm Florian—a student from Uva Academy! This is just a theory, but I think Uva Academy and Naranja Academy are one and the same.
(Juliana, Nemona, Arven, and Penny are confused as Florian continues to talk, but Brendan, May, and Wally are pensive)
Brendan	Something seems off.
Wally	Are they not all from the same school?
May	They're getting hard to follow.
Florian	Oh, I know! Juliana!
Juliana	Y-yes?!
Florian	Could you tell us about your journey in Paldea? Once we hear your story, I think everything will become clear!
Juliana	Oh, uh... OK! I'll keep it brief. So after I moved to Paldea, I started attending the academy. I met Koraidon on the beach and did a Treasure Hunt as part of our independent study.
Florian	Right, go on!
Juliana	Then I became friends with Nemona, Arven, and Penny, and we all ventured into Area Zero.
Florian	I knew it! I had the same experience in my universe!
Juliana	What?!
Florian	But there were small differences... Like the names of our schools, for example. And it was Miraidon I met on the beach, not Koraidon.
(Juliana stares at him, open-mouthed)
Florian	That's why I figured they're parallel universes. I think I came from a different Paldea than you all did! But I don't have any proof, so I wouldn't blame you if you don't believe me.
Arven	Yeah, there's no way I'd believe that bonkers story... is what I WOULD say, but after the whole thing with Area Zero...
Nemona	Yeah.
Juliana	I do see how Koraidon and Miraidon are similar.
(Koraidon and Miraidon stare at each other as Juliana thinks)
Juliana	Soooo...Florian had the same experience as me? Except he's a boy and has a Miraidon?
Penny	Oh no, Juliana's brain is overheating.
Brendan	Hmm. A world that's a little different... I think I've heard a similar story before.
(Flashback to Zinnia)
Zinnia	But you, Brendan... Hope for our world... Tragedy for another... You get it, don't you?
Brendan	That's right!

(Juliana, Nemona, Arven, and Penny are thoughtful)
Juliana	Yeah, you're right. I think so too! I've met others with connections to other worlds, too—like Koraidon. So I believe what Florian says!
Florian	Thanks, Juliana!
Juliana	You're so strong, Florian. Aren't you scared of an unknown world?
Florian	No. I'm not. Because I made a promise to the Nemona and others in my universe!
Nemona	A promise?
Florian	A promise that once I find my new treasure in this universe, I'll return for sure! I couldn't hold back my desire to explore an unknown world. And everyone sent me off with encouragement. I could probably go back whenever I want, but... First I wanna find a treasure that's special to Pasio—a treasure that will amaze everyone!
Nemona	I think I understand how that version of us felt!
Penny	Yeah. If Juliana said the same, I think we'd cheer her on, too.
Arven	Yup, especially if it's the path my closest buddy chose.
Juliana	I see. So even when you're apart... you're still connected with the friends you love!
Florian	Yup!
Arven	All right, Florian! If we were best buds in your universe... then we're best buds here, too!
Penny	Uh, who are you flexing on? Um... You can count on me for things like computer stuff here, too.
Nemona	Hey, hey! So this means you're just as strong as Juliana, right, Florian?! You should be my rival in this universe, too!
Juliana	You all haven't changed, have you.
Brendan	I'm glad things are settled.
May	Yeah, everyone's getting along great!
Wally	I guess their friendship hasn't changed, even though they're from different universes.
Juliana	I made so many friends today! Speaking of friends, even our Pokémon...
(Juliana looks to her right and realizes that Koraidon is no longer standing next to her)
Juliana	Huh? Koraidon?
(Florian looks to his left and realizes that Miraidon is no longer standing next to him)
Florian	Miraidon?
(Miraidon approaches Penny from the front, and Koraidon approaches Penny from behind; she looks between the two of them)
Penny	Wha—?!

(Pan to the sky)
Penny	Stop it, both of you! Aghhhhhh!
(Fade back to Penny, Nemona, and Arven)
Arven	Hahaha! Looks like you're their favorite, Penny!
Nemona	Miraidon, huh? I'm SO excited to battle you!
Penny	Nemona from a different universe... What if she's a machine, like Miraidon?
Arven	Yeah, maybe she has endless stamina. Scary...
Juliana	Hahaha! I'd like to see that!
May	Sorry to interrupt, but...
Brendan	Don't forget we're your new friends, too!
Juliana	Of course! Brendan and Wally, right? May tells me you're reliable Pokémon Trainers!
May	H-hey, Juliana!
Wally	Oh, since Florian and Juliana have just arrived on Pasio... Why don't we show them around the island?
Nemona	I'm all in! All right, everyone! Follow me!
Penny	"Follow me"? Where are you taking us?! And that sparkle in your eye...
Arven	No need to rush, Nemona! Let's eat first!
Brendan	Now, now. We've plenty of time to go all kinds of places. OK, Latios! Latias!

The flashback at the end of Similar but Different Worlds is taken directly from some of Zinnia's dialogue during the Delta Episode of Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.
