Pecharunt Strikes Back (Japanese: モモワロウの逆襲!? Momowarou Strikes Back!?) was a story event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on the sync pair Sygna Suit Carmine & Pecharunt.
The "Sygna Suit Carmine EX Master Fair" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Sygna Suit Carmine & Pecharunt for the duration of the event.
During this event, players could earn event points by completing battles. Players received rewards based on the number of points accumulated, including a special frame for the photo creator, a Strike Move Candy Coin, a 5★ Power-Up, and medals. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Extreme Battle 1, which could only be challenged once per day.
The player could battle using Sygna Suit Carmine & Pecharunt to obtain +0.6× bonus points; Akari & Samurott, Lucas & Dialga, Juliana & Koraidon, Florian & Miraidon, Kieran & Hydrapple, Penny & Sylveon, Arven & Mabosstiff, Carmine & Sinistcha, Nemona & Pawmot, or Sawyer & Honchkrow to obtain +0.4× bonus points; and any unlisted sync pairs with the
Paldea theme skill to obtain +0.2× bonus points.
This event featured the Battle Challenge, where players were challenged to defeat a team of strong opponents. Players could complete event missions by clearing these areas with one or fewer sync pairs fainting and sync pairs with specific theme skills on the team.
Additionally, the music and artwork on the title screen were different than usual. The title screen artwork depicted Sygna Suit Carmine & Pecharunt, and the background music was
Decisive Battle! (Carmine) (Pokémon Masters EX Version). In addition, a special voice-over line of Carmine saying "Pokémon Masters EX" would play as soon as the game's logo appeared on the title screen.
Plot
In anticipation of the upcoming New Year, Sawyer is preparing some Swimmers to swim in the glacier area in order to wish peace and health to the people of Pasio, an idea that they are not fond of. While Sawyer mulls over their complaints, another Swimmer arrives with some strange mochi, which the group decides to snack on. No sooner have they finished eating do they suddenly feel the need to perform a strange dance, which videos of quickly go viral.
Among those watching are Juliana & Florian, who both recognise the culprit to be the Mythical Pokemon Pecharunt. While discussing on how to safely confront Pecharunt with their friends, alongside Carmine & Kieran who both remember the incident in Kitakami very well, the group also overhears Akari and Lucas discussing the strange mochi. Being an enjoyer of Potato Mochi, Akari had been looking forward to tasting it and is less than thrilled to hear of this particular variety of mochi having a strange effect upon eaten. Upon being looped in on how Pecharunt uses those under its control as shields, Akari muses on how Professor Laventon came up with the idea of using balms to calm down frenzied Pokemon, so theoretically they could create a variation that could calm down humans. Seeking to get payback on Pecharunt as soon as possible, Carmine quickly assigns Akari and Lucas to join her as the Calming Crew to confront Pecharunt first, with everyone else working to escort the afflicted away.
The plan to calm down the Trainers under Pecharunt's control proves to be successful, with Akari and Lucas managing to land many balms that snaps the Trainers out of their trance, leaving a vengeful Carmine free to subject Pecharunt to her relentless wrath. After Pecharunt surrenders, Lucas notes that while people and Pokemon can form strong bonds together, it's a different story compared to forcibly binding others to your will. Hearing Lucas say it does give Carmine pause, and she opens up to the Subjugation Pokemon, surmising that it never had a proper teacher to teach it right or wrong, and thus threatens a somewhat remorseful Pecharunt to be her grunt or else.
A few days later, Carmine has dressed up in her new Sygna Suit alongside Pecharunt, vowing to keep it in check so that it doesn't get into any more trouble. With the crisis resolved, Akari offers Carmine some of the Potato Mochi she made, with Carmine - by this point being completely fed up with Mochi - declining her offer.
