Season's Greetings (Japanese: 思いを込めた新年祝い Thoughtful New Year's Celebration) was a story event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on the sync pairs Lillie (New Year's 2021) & Ribombee and Lance (New Year's 2021) & Gyarados.

First run

The event first ran from January 1 to 14, 2021. The "Lillie Seasonal Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Lillie (New Year's 2021) & Ribombee for the duration of the event, and the "Lance Seasonal Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Lance (New Year's 2021) & Gyarados for the duration of the event.

During this run, players could earn Hagoita Cards, Temari Cards, Koma Cards, and Daruma Cards from battles that could be redeemed in the shop. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Ultimate Card Collection, which could only be challenged once per day. Extra cards were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.

The player could battle using Lillie (New Year's 2021) & Ribombee or Lance (New Year's 2021) & Gyarados to obtain +0.6× bonus cards; Blue & Pidgeot, Nate & Braviary, Guzma & Golisopod, Burgh & Leavanny, or Lusamine & Pheromosa to obtain +0.4× bonus cards; and Skyla & Swanna, Bugsy & Beedrill, Noland & Pinsir, or Viola & Surskit/Masquerain to obtain +0.2× bonus cards.

This run featured the Full-Force Battle, where players were challenged to defeat a large group of strong opponents. Similar to the Legendary Arena, players could use multiple teams with a limited number of total sync pairs, with the opponents' health carrying over between rounds and with previously used pairs unable to be used again until the challenge is reset. Medals could be earned by completing specific missions. Players also had a chance to obtain access to the special area Dragon of Good Fortune when completing one of the Card Gathering or Mass Card Collecting areas; this area could only be played once before it had to be unlocked again.

In addition, players could earn a medal for completing all the story areas in the event.

Second run

The event reran from January 4 to 18, 2022. The "Lillie and Lance Seasonal Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Lillie (New Year's 2021) & Ribombee and Lance (New Year's 2021) & Gyarados for the duration of the event. In addition, the "5★-Guaranteed Seasonal Scout" ran during the same time period. This scout could only be used once, guaranteed that the player would receive a 5★ sync pair, and had a chance of recruiting Lillie (New Year's 2021) & Ribombee and Lance (New Year's 2021) & Gyarados. However, they did not have higher odds of appearing than any other sync pairs available in the scout.

The player could battle using Lillie (New Year's 2021) & Ribombee or Lance (New Year's 2021) & Gyarados to obtain +0.6× bonus cards; Blue & Pidgeot, Nate & Braviary, Guzma & Golisopod, Burgh & Leavanny, or Lusamine & Pheromosa to obtain +0.4× bonus cards; and Skyla & Swanna, Bugsy & Beedrill, Noland & Pinsir, Viola & Surskit/Masquerain, Scottie/Bettie & Pikachu, or Scottie/Bettie & Torchic to obtain +0.2× bonus cards.

All battle areas except Dragon of Good Fortune returned in this run.

Third run

The event reran from July 13 to 28, 2025 as part of the Story Replay Silver's Path event. This run only contained the story areas; the seasonal cards and battle areas did not return. In addition, no missions were available, and no medals could be earned.

Plot

Lillie and Lance meet up with the player, dressed in traditional clothes from Johto, and comment that they have seen lots of people sending greeting cards to their friends and loved ones to celebrate the new year. They invite the player to come into town with them and see the cards.

Lillie, Lance, and the player head into town, seeing Bugsy, Kris, Valerie, Koga, Janine, Morty, Pryce, and Whitney and Jasmine with a Pelipper. They come across Pelipper's Trainer, a Pokémon Ranger, noticing that it looks a bit ill. Lillie offers the Pelipper one of Ribombee's pollen puffs. Pelipper becomes noticeably better, but still needs to rest at the Pokémon Center. However, Pelipper and its Trainer were in the middle of delivering cards. Lance offers to help out by having his Dragonite deliver the cards in Pelipper's place, and asks if Lillie and the player want to meet up with some other Trainers while doing so. They agree, and leave town to go deliver the cards.

They first meet up with Silver with his Ho-Oh and Sneasel and Blue, with his Blastoise and Pidgeot, who are training together. Lance speaks with Silver, and gives him cards from Ethan and Lyra. Blue receives cards from many Gym Leaders and Elite Four members, and asks if Red and Leaf have received the cards he sent to them yet. Silver also gives Lance Ho-Oh feathers in place of cards for him, Ethan, and Lyra.

After delivering the cards to Ethan and Lyra, Lance gets a card from his cousin, Clair, with a battle challenge. They battle, Lance's Gyarados versus Clair's Kingdra. Lance wins the battle, having an advantage due to Clair expecting him to battle with his Dragonite rather than his Gyarados.

After finishing delivering all the cards, the Pokémon Ranger and her Pelipper give Lance, Lillie, and the player cards of their own, telling them to give the cards to the people close to them. Lillie gives her cards to her friends and family from Alola. After giving out the cards, Lance, Lillie, and the player get their photo taken by Viola, and Lillie wishes everyone a happy new year.

Lance	There are many Trainers here from regions far from Johto. This must be pretty new for them. It's really changed the look of Pasio lately. When I'm out and about, I feel like I'm back home!
Lillie	These traditional outfits come in a bunch of different styles, but this design is the best for celebrating the new year! It wasn't easy to put on, but I did my best! Hehe! How does it look?
Lance	I also decided to mix things up and sport a new look for the occasion. Check out the Gyarados design on my outfit. Doesn't it look powerful?
Lillie	Speaking of designs, I've been seeing lots of cards around town with pictures of Pokémon on them! People send these kinds of cards to their friends and loved ones to celebrate the new year!

Lance	Thanks, Lillie. It's been a long time since I've gotten a card from Clair. What's this? "I'll be waiting for you at the beach." Hahaha! It sounds like she's challenging me to a battle!
Lillie	Well, we also have some cards for her. Why don't we head over to the beach?
Lance	I see... In that case, I guess I'll accept her challenge! To the beach!

Lillie	No problem! I'm so glad you're feeling better, Pelipper! Don't push yourself so hard, OK?
Pokémon Ranger	As a little thank-you, please accept these cards from me!
Lillie	Wow! Look at all these designs! Are you sure it's OK for us to have these?
Pokémon Ranger	Yep! Feel free to send them to all the special people in your life! This time, Pelipper and I will be the ones making sure they get delivered!
Lillie	Awesome!: Thank you! I'm glad we were able to help! These designs are great!: Aren't they? There are even designs with Clefairy and Ribombee! Feel free to call on us again if you ever need help making deliveries! Ribombee and I had a lot of fun delivering all those cards!
Soon after that, <player> and his/her friends wrote a lot of messages on those cards.
Lillie	We asked the courier Pokémon to deliver most of the cards... but as for the rest, I think we can deliver these in person!

Lillie	To all my dearest friends and family from Alola, happy New Year! Ever since I arrived on Pasio, my days have been full of exciting experiences and encounters. I'm enjoying my time here every day. I think that I'm able to have so much fun thanks to everything you all taught me back in Alola. I'll keep on doing my best to become a great sync pair with my Pokémon. The next time I see you, I hope we can surprise you with how much we've grown!
