Biology
Biology
Physiology
Slakoth is a brown, quadrupedal Pokémon with sloth-like qualities. It has coarse, shaggy fur with two dark brown stripes on its back. There is a scruff of fur on top of its head, and it has a large pink pig-like snout, pink eyelids, and dark rings around its eyes. It has long, lanky arms, but shorter legs. Each paw has two sharp claws, and there are pink paw pads on the back feet. Its underbelly and rear are also pink.
Slakoth are brown mammalian Pokémon with shaggy coarse fur and brown stripes on its back. It has long arms with sharp claws which it uses to hang from trees. It is extremely slow.
Gender differences
None.

Special abilities
Slakoth lolls around and sleeps for more than twenty hours a day, which can make those around it drowsy. Since it does not move very much, it does not need much food and only eats three leaves each day. Its heart only beats once a minute. In Generation III, Slack Off was its signature move. It makes its nest in List of Pokémon by habitat, and keeps the same one during its entire life. However, it can travel far by swimming in rivers. As mentioned in the Sleep Style Dex, Drowsy Power is the only thing that make Slakoth move in order sleep near Snorlax.
Behavior
Slakoth will spend its whole life in the same tree. However, Slakoth are known for being good swimmers, traveling far during floods to reach a new tree. A potential predator will often find that Slakoth isn't as easy to catch as they may think. If it senses danger, Slakoth will dig into its branch with its sharp claws and lock its muscles into place, making it almost impossible to pry off, even for the strongest carnivores.

Habitat
Prior to Generation V and in Generation IX, Slakoth and its fully evolved form, Slaking, are the only known Pokémon that can have Truant as an Ability.

Slakoth are often found living in forests.

Diet
Evolution
Pokémon food
Slakoth evolves into Vigoroth, which evolves into Slaking.

Slakoth's daily diet usually consists of all of three leaves.

In the anime
Norman's Slakoth appeared in Love, Petalburg Style and also in Balance of Power where it battled Ash's Pikachu and Ash's Torkoal. It proved to be a strong battler against Pikachu with its powerful Blizzard attack but it lost to Torkoal.

In The Garden of Eatin, there were many Slakoth who lived in the Slakoth Banana Garden. A Snorlax was eating all the bananas in the garden and no one was able to stop it untill one of the Slakoths in the garden evolved into Vigoroth and defeated it.

A Slakoth appeared in DP088.

* According to Ken Sugimori in an interview, Slakoth's name was conceived first before its character design was created.
* In Scarlet and Violet, Slakoth, despite being programmed to spawn in South Province (Area Three), will not do so due to the lack of appropriate trees in the area.

Origin
Origin
It appears to have been based on sloths.
Slakoth is based on sloths, perhaps specifically the two-toed sloth. It also has some similarities to human infants, such as spending more time sleeping than awake, and primarily lying on its stomach, as babies do not have the muscle mass to hold themselves upright.

Slakoth's evolutionary line goes through three stages of energy, where Slakoth is lazy, Vigoroth becomes extraordinarily energetic, and later Slaking becomes lazy again. This may be a reference to the Sphinx#Riddle of the Sphinx, in which the baby crawls on four legs, the adult has the most energy and walks on two legs, and the old man walks on three legs, one of which is a cane. In the case of Slaking, two legs and an arm touch the ground in its most preferable position.

The red bottom of the alternate color sprite is based on baboons.
Name origin
Name origin
Slakoth's name is a combination of slake, meaning to slacken, and sloth. Its Japanese name is based on 樹懶 namakemono, sloth. It is also a play on the slang phrase "to slack off".
Slakoth may be a combination of slack off and sloth.

Namakero may be a combination of 怠ける namakeru (to slack off/laze around) and 樹懶 namakemono (sloth).

Slakoth (Japanese: ナマケロ Namakero) is a Normal-type Pokémon introduced in Generation III.

It evolves into Vigoroth starting at level 18, which evolves into Slaking starting at level 36.

Biology

Slakoth is a brown, quadrupedal Pokémon with sloth-like qualities. It has coarse, shaggy fur with two dark brown stripes on its back. There is a scruff of fur on top of its head, and it has a large pink pig-like snout, pink eyelids, and dark rings around its eyes. It has long, lanky arms, but shorter legs. Each paw has two sharp claws, and there are pink paw pads on the back feet. Its underbelly and rear are also pink.

Slakoth lolls around and sleeps for more than twenty hours a day, which can make those around it drowsy. Since it does not move very much, it does not need much food and only eats three leaves each day. Its heart only beats once a minute. In Generation III, Slack Off was its signature move. It makes its nest in tropical forests, and keeps the same one during its entire life. However, it can travel far by swimming in rivers. As mentioned in the Sleep Style Dex, Drowsy Power is the only thing that make Slakoth move in order sleep near Snorlax.[1]

Prior to Generation V and in Generation IX, Slakoth and its fully evolved form, Slaking, are the only known Pokémon that can have Truant as an Ability.

Evolution

Slakoth evolves into Vigoroth, which evolves into Slaking.

Trivia

Origin

Slakoth is based on sloths,[2] perhaps specifically the two-toed sloth.

This may be a reference to the Sphinx's riddle, in which the baby crawls on four legs, the adult has the most energy and walks on two legs, and the old man walks on three legs, one of which is a cane. In the case of Slaking, two legs and an arm touch the ground in its most preferable position.

Name origin

Slakoth may be a combination of slack off and sloth.

Namakero may be a combination of 怠ける namakeru (to slack off/laze around) and 樹懶 namakemono (sloth).
