Diary of an Angry Primeape (Japanese: 怒りのオコリザル観察日記 Angry Okorizaru Observation Report) is the second episode of the second season of POKÉTOON and tenth overall. It was first released on the official Japanese Pokémon YouTube channel on September 25, 2024, and on the official English and Western Pokémon YouTube channels on July 2, 2026. English subtitles were added to the Japanese video on October 3, 2024.
Blurb
Summer vacation brings an amazing adventure for a young Trainer and his friend Primeape! Noticing that Primeape is angry all the time, the boy begins an experiment to find out what—if anything—will help it calm down. In his observation journal, he records failure after failure, but he’s determined to keep trying until he finds an answer. Could there be a big breakthrough in store for the boy and Primeape as their summer continues?
Plot
A boy is presenting a report to his classroom, where he decided to observe his friend Primeape over the summer. Primeape is a Pokémon that's always angry, so the boy wants to see what Primeape looks like when its not angry. He observes Primeape playing the backyard, but Primeape's stomach growls with hunger. It tries to climb a tree and pick a berry, but an Aipom gets the berry first. The boy brings over some berries for Primeape, but ends up overfeeding it, and making it even angrier. Next, he tries to give the Primeape a bath, a relaxing massage, and beauty products for its fur, but seeing its hair styled makes Primeapre angry again. The boy then tries to click photos of Primeape with various props, including cute, shiny, and fun things, but Primeape is still angry.
The boy and Primeape visit a field where Psyduck, Quagsire, and Slowpoke are lying in peace, but this confuses the Primeape, causing it jump into a lake. The boy then tries various other things, like picnicking, stargazing, hiking, sunbathing, skiing, ziplining, watching a movie, visiting hot springs, and attending a concert, but Primeape remains angry. On the way back from one event, Primeape angrily knocks out a tub of popcorn from the boy's hand with Rage Fist, which leads the boy to realize that Primeape wants to become stronger.
The boy and Primeape battle a Trainer and his Houndour, defeating them easily. They continue battling more and more Trainers and keep winning, eventually going all the way to a Pokémon League Champion battle against a Baxcalibur. While it looks like they might be about to lose, the boy reassures his Primeape, and Primeape it able to defeat the Baxcalibur. Having too much rage, Primeape unexpectedly evolves into Annihilape.
The boy ends his report by saying that Primeape was angry until the last moment. However, he won't give up, and his next report will be on Annihilape. While the rest of the students are unsure of how to react to the report, they notice Annihilape outside the classroom window, and scream in terror at the scary-looking Pokémon.

Trivia
Errors
- Primeape was seen defeating a Slakoth, Bidoof, Loudred, and Dolliv with Rage Fist despite Normal-type Pokémon being immune to Ghost-type moves.
- On the English Pokémon YouTube channel, the 1:36-long cut used to promote the short on social media was initially uploaded instead of the 10:16-long full episode. The correct video was uploaded on July 6, 2026, with the incorrect video being made private.
Dub edits
- The Western uploads add a "POKÉTOON: The Pokémon Cartoon Animation" logo segment at the beginning of the short.
- In the Western dubs, the ending theme is replaced by an instrumental track.
