History
Reggie first appeared in Lost Leader Strategy!. During this meeting, he and Ash battled in a three-on-three match; although Ash's Staravia lost to his Swalot, Turtwig and Pikachu successfully defeated his Bibarel and Staraptor respectively.

Pre-series
At some point, Reggie was a Pokémon Trainer who ultimately earned eight Badges from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh. He also challenged the Battle Frontier and won six of the seven Frontier Symbols, aiming to become a Frontier Brain. As revealed in Aiding the Enemy, he decided to become a Pokémon Breeder after failing to get the Brave Symbol and being told by Brandon that he lacked a unique battle strategy.

He decided to become a Breeder after failing to get the Brave Symbol, as revealed in Aiding the Enemy. Unlike his younger brother, he treats his Pokémon with love and care and thanks them after working hard in a battle. This difference was also noted by Zoey who said that Paul and Reggie seemed like complete opposites.
Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl
Reggie debuted in Lost Leader Strategy!. During this meeting, he and Ash competed in a three-on-three match; although Ash's Staravia lost to his Swalot, Turtwig and Pikachu successfully defeated his Bibarel and Staraptor respectively.

In Crossing the Battle Line!, Reggie and his Staraptor helped Ash's Staravia to learn Brave Bird. He appeared again in Enter Galactic! where he used Paul's Electabuzz to help Ash fight Team Galactic.
In Crossing the Battle Line!, Reggie and his Staraptor helped Ash's Staravia learn Brave Bird. He also watched the battle between Dawn and Maylene at the Veilstone Gym. In Enter Galactic!, he used Paul's Electabuzz to help Ash defend the meteorites from Team Galactic.

He made a cameo appearance in Saving the World From Ruins!. He appeared in DP128, where he watched his brother's battle against Pyramid King. In this episode Reggie's loss against Brandon, which was being watched by Paul, was shown in a flashback. Back then he was told by Brandon that he lacked a unique battle strategy which is why he gave up on being a Pokémon Trainer. This incident is what caused Paul to be more focused on a Pokémon's strength than anything else.
He briefly reappeared in Saving the World From Ruins!. He later physically appeared in A Pyramiding Rage!, where he watched his brother's battle against Brandon. Reggie's past as a Trainer was revealed, along with Paul's subsequent desire to become stronger.

Reggie will reappear in DP131 to watch the battle between Ash and Paul.
In Pedal to the Mettle! and Evolving Strategies!, Reggie traveled to Lake Acuity to watch the Full Battle between Ash and Paul, which was suggested by him at the end of A Pyramiding Rage! as a means of seeing how far the two Trainers had developed. He was revealed to have called battle judge Olivier to preside over the battle.

In Familiarity Breeds Strategy!, Reggie explained that work was keeping him from attending the Lily of the Valley Conference, though he watched the event on television. After discussing Paul's Pokémon lineup and what he learned as a result of meeting Ash, Reggie encouraged his brother to win. Later, after Paul lost, Reggie informed both his own Pokémon and Paul's, but commented the battle had only made Paul stronger. He then suggested a battle to Paul once he returned home.

Pokémon Journeys: The Series
In The Fiery Road to Mastership!, Reggie appeared with Paul, watching Cynthia's Masters Eight Tournament match against Iris. In Battling as Hard as Stone!, they watched Ash's match against Steven Stone.

Character
Following his loss to Brandon, Reggie became a Pokémon Breeder to channel his skills with Pokémon. Unlike Paul, the loss left Reggie with an insight into true strength, along with a calm and optimistic nature. Despite his retirement from training Pokémon, Reggie remains a strong competitor, as witnessed in his match against Ash in Lost Leader Strategy!. He suggests strategies to Paul and even raises his younger brother's Pokémon.

Reggie (Japanese: レイジ Reiji) is a recurring character who appeared in the Pokémon anime. He is a Pokémon Breeder from Veilstone City and Paul's older brother.

History

Reggie in his battle with Brandon

He briefly reappeared in Saving the World From Ruins!.

Reggie and Paul

He later physically appeared in A Pyramiding Rage!, where he watched his brother's battle against Brandon. Reggie's past as a Trainer was revealed, along with Paul's subsequent desire to become stronger.

In Battling as Hard as Stone!, they watched Ash's match against Steven.

When Team Galactic attempted to steal the Veilstone Meteorites, Reggie used Electabuzz to fight off the Golbat that Saturn's grunts were using to create a distraction. During the battle, Electabuzz and Pikachu saved each other from sneak attacks and this helped them end their feud. Afterwards Reggie sent Electabuzz back to Paul for his upcoming battle at the Pastoria Gym.

Paul's Lairon

Paul's Aggron

Despite having a significant type advantage, it lost in a matter of seconds after only managing to use Iron Defense; Regice froze it solid with Ice Beam and then knocked it out with a single Zap Cannon.

In Familiarity Breeds Strategy!, it was shown to have evolved into Aggron. As Paul's first Pokémon, it went up against Pikachu in the Lily of the Valley Conference match against Ash. With about even strength, Ash made the decision to switch to Infernape. After being successfully burned by Flare Blitz, it was knocked out by an exceedingly powerful Mach Punch. It was one of the two Pokémon used by Paul to uncover Ash's strategy, the other being Gastrodon.

Aggron's known moves are Iron Defense, Metal Claw, Metal Sound, Flash Cannon, and Double-Edge, and its Ability is Rock Head.

Paul's Gastrodon
Gastrodon
Paul's Gastrodon was the second Pokémon used against Ash in the Lily of the Valley Conference, going up against Staraptor. Adapting Ash's tactics from their previous Full Battles, Gastrodon was shown to be able to easily keep Staraptor off by creating a Counter Shield using Muddy Water. Ash then ordered Staraptor to attack, flying just above the ground, only to be caught by Gastrodon's Body Slam. It then fired Water Pulse directly into the air, planning to dodge the attack descending at an increased speed at the last second. Breaking free by using Close Combat on the ground, Staraptor was then hit by a direct Ice Beam and subsequently substituted with Buizel. It was at this point Paul realized Ash was using the same Pokémon as last time, much to his amused disbelief. As Gastrodon started off with an Ice Beam, Buizel again used his improvised Ice Aqua Jet, sending Gastrodon flying. Going for another Body Slam from the blast, Buizel countered with an Ice Punch, effectively eliminating Gastrodon.

Gastrodon was one of the two Pokémon used by Paul to uncover Ash's strategy, the other being Aggron.

Gastrodon's known moves are Muddy Water, Body Slam, Water Pulse, and Ice Beam.

Paul's Drapion
Drapion
Drapion was the third Pokémon used in the Lily of the Valley Conference match against Ash where it was sent out after Paul had uncovered his strategy. As a result, Drapion was able to successfully eliminate half of Ash's team (Buizel, Staraptor, and Torterra). After defeating Torterra, it was recalled, making Drapion the only Pokémon Paul recalled during the entire battle. Throughout the battle, Drapion's Toxic Spikes poisoned most of Ash's team, until Infernape's improvised Underground Flare Blitz completely burned them off. Later, Drapion went up against Gliscor and, after a fierce battle, was finally knocked out after being successfully burned by Fire Fang.

Drapion's known moves are Pin Missile, Cross Poison, Toxic Spikes, and Poison Fang.

Paul's Froslass
Froslass
Froslass was the fifth Pokémon used by Paul in his battle against Ash in the Lily of the Valley Conference. Going up against Ash's Pikachu, she successfully contained his Thunderbolt with Hail, while also activating her Snow Cloak ability, allowing her to constantly disappear and reappear during the battle. Frustrated with the single-sided attacks, Ash ordered Pikachu to use Volt Tackle. As Pikachu went charging towards the oncoming Froslass and ended up going through causing no damage, it seemed Ash was in trouble. Froslass then fired Ice Shard to finish the battle, which Pikachu dodged for a successful Iron Tail, also breaking up the Hail. Pikachu was then frozen by a subsequent Ice Beam, while Froslass was preparing another Ice Shard. Breaking free with Volt Tackle, Pikachu finally took Froslass out of the match.

Froslass's known moves are Hail, Ice Shard, and Ice Beam, and her Ability is Snow Cloak.
