Tetsuya Kakihara (柿原徹也 Kakihara Tetsuya) is a Japanese seiyū for the Pokémon anime.
Kakihara was born on December 24, 1982 in Düsseldorf, West Germany, where he spent his early life. He had become fascinated by the Japanese entertainment culture after watching anime and reading manga as a child, and thus traveled to Japan in order to become a seiyū. In 2001, at the age of 18, Kakihara attended the Amusement Media Academy, a Japanese vocational voice acting school, and had to live at a friend's home while studying there. He also worked a number of part-time jobs and improved his Japanese during this time. Kakihara eventually started voicing roles in 2003.
Kakihara became typecast as fiery young boys in a variety of Japanese anime series. He provided his voice for Reggie, the older brother of Ash's rival Paul, during the Diamond & Pearl series of the Pokémon anime. He was affiliated with the talent agency 81 Produce, but left to freelance in or before June 2013. In July 2014, he founded his own talent agency, Zynchro. In addition to voice acting, Kakihara became a singer and released a number of mini-albums and singles. As a singer, he is affiliated with the music label Kiramune.
