Chandelure (Japanese: シャンデラ Chandela) is a dual-type Ghost/Fire Pokémon introduced in Generation V.
It evolves from Lampent when exposed to a Dusk Stone. It is the final form of Litwick.
Biology
Chandelure is a Pokémon that resembles a sentient chandelier. It has a striped, round head, and round, pupil-less yellow eyes. There is a ring of small, black spikes on top of its head with a tall, purple flame in the middle. From a black spike below its head, black arms curl upward. These arms are tipped with purple fire.
Chandelure's flames do not burn their victims physically; rather, they burn the victim's spirit. After hypnotizing its opponent by waving these flames, it absorbs the victim's spirit. It is said that any spirits that get incinerated by Chandelure's flames end up losing their way and are forced to wander the mortal world forever. Chandelure is known to reside in rundown mansions. There is a rumor that funerals were a constant occurrence for people that lived in homes that were illuminated by Chandelure in place of lights.
Evolution
Chandelure evolves from Lampent and is the final form of Litwick.

Other appearances
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS
Chandelure appears in the 3DS version as an enemy in Smash Run mode. It will use Will-O-Wisp and Fire Spin to attack. As an homage to its Flash Fire ability, it absorbs fire- and darkness-based attacks and items to power itself up.
It also appears as a trophy in the 3DS version.
Trophy information
NA: A Ghost/Fire-type Pokémon that burns its opponents' spirits instead of their bodies. When it attacks, it does so in bursts of three, using moves like Will-O-Wisp and Fire Spin. Try not to use fire-based attacks or items on it, as it will only absorb them and use them to strengthen itself.
PAL: A Ghost- and Fire-type Pokémon that doesn't burn its opponents' bodies, but their spirits. When it attacks, it does so in bursts of three, using moves like Will-O-Wisp and Fire Spin. Try not to use fire-based attacks or items on it, as it will only absorb them and use them to strengthen itself.
Pokkén Tournament
- Main article: Chandelure (Pokkén)
Chandelure is a Power-type playable character in Pokkén. Much like in the mainline games, it attacks with a variety of projectiles and long-ranged attacks, as well as a variety of debuffing effects. Moves it can use include Will-O-Wisp, Smog, Flame Burst, Incinerate, Minimize, Overheat, and Hex. Upon entering Burst form, it can use the Burst Attack Final Flicker.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Chandelure appears as a Spirit.
Pokémon UNITE
- Main article: Chandelure (UNITE)
Chandelure is playable through obtaining a Unite License. It is a ranged attacker that starts as Litwick and evolves into Lampent at level 5, which evolves into Chandelure at level 7.
Trivia
- In the Pokémon of the Year poll held by The Pokémon Company in 2020, Chandelure was voted the most popular Generation V Pokémon, receiving 50,943 votes. It was also the eighteenth-most popular Pokémon overall.
- While Chandelure is unobtainable in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Ingo indirectly mentions his Chandelure at one point while in Wayward Cave, describing it as having “wielded flames with mastery”.
- In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U's Smash Run game mode, Chandelure can absorb fire and darkness attacks. The fire immunity can be explained by its possible ability Flash Fire but its immunity to darkness attacks is unfitting considering that Chandelure is weak to Ghost and Dark-type attacks.
Origin
Chandelure may be based on a chandelier and the hitodama or will-o'-the-wisps. It may also take inspiration from chōchin-obake, albeit in a modern, Western style.
Name origin
Chandelure may be a combination of chandelier and lure.
Chandela may be a combination of chandelier and candela (Latin for candle) or candelabra.
