The song was released on streaming services on September 19th, 2023, and the music video the following day on September 20, 2023. Presumably born out of Shizuku's love for Ghost-typePokémon, the song and accompanying music video focus solely on them, with it matching the Japanese name of the movePhantom Force. Due to it being an arrangement of Lavender Town, there are plenty of sound effects sampled and references made to various Ghost-type Pokémon, as well as the events of Pokémon Red and Green. Key Animation for the music video was provided by nekozemon, with effects animation by Mami Sonokawa of maxilla.
It begins with Shizuku, in English, saying "Begone... Intruders...", quoting the ghostMarowak that appears at the Pokémon Tower. At various points throughout the song, various sound effects such as the Game Freak opening (heard in moves such as Swift), Mimikyu's cry, the sound of a Potion healing, the player pressing A to advance through a text box, or a failed Poké Ball throw can be heard sampled into the arrangement. At one point during the bridge before the chorus, it shifts to a slight arrangement of the Pokémon Tower's song itself, before transitioning back to Lavender Town.
So Pierce through with Phantom Force! Protect with both hands Why don't we make a pinky promise? Maybe just the two of us Scare me, I can handle it! I curse you Why don't you Confide with me? I'll reveal my Disguise to you Well, apologies for the Cursed Body!
A Wandering Spirit by the peephole Monologue in a polite Yamask's tone Twisting the hands of Sand Rush Let's not do this, love in a Long Reach Let me ask you a silly question Pickup with both hands
So Do a Lovely Kiss with the heart of a Prankster You would have licked poison off the dish Surely just the two of us Catch the body that Levitates Feeling Rattled? Now move like a Dancer Put on a Disguise Well, Clear Body is bare
So Pierce through with Phantom Force! Protect with both hands Why don't we make a pinky promise? Always just the two of us Scare me, I can handle it! I curse you Well, you've got the Magician's touch I'll reveal my Disguise to you Well, apologies for the Cursed Body! Good as Gold, Trick me!
Plot
The music video stars a fan of Ghost-type Pokémon waking up from a recurring dream where they meet various Ghost-type Pokémon when walking a trail.
Out of the many moves and Abilities referenced in the song's lyrics, Lovely Kiss is the only one to never have been associated with a Ghost-type Pokémon.
