Headbutt (Japanese: ずつき Headbutt) is a damage-dealing Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation I.

Effect

Generation I

Headbutt does damage and has a 29.7% chance of causing the opponent to flinch.

Headbutt can't make an opponent with a Substitute flinch.

Generation II

In the second generation of games, Headbutt can be used in the field to shake small trees, sometimes causing a wild Pokémon to drop out. If this is done at night, there is a chance the Pokémon which falls out will be sleeping.

The chance of causing flinching was changed to 30%.

Generation III and on

Headbutt went back to the methods of Generation I, retaining the 30% chance of causing flinching.
