Physiology
Teddiursa are small, mammalian Pokémon that resemble bear cubs. They have short brown fur that covers their body, except for their mouth and the crescent moon marking on their heads, which are a light tan. Teddiursa have small, round bodies with short limbs and a short, puffy tail. They are reminiscent of teddy bears.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
It is said that when Teddiursa find honey, the crescent moon on their head glows. They have also been known to concoct their own honey out of fruit and Beedrill pollen. Teddiursa tend to lick their paws because their paws absorb honey.

They can be quite cunning in obtaining food, for example charming people in order to steal food from them and tricking the people into blaming the thefts on other Pokémon. However, they have also been known to team up with friends. Teddiursa often look to Ursaring for protection.

Trivia
- Teddiursa has a different sprite in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen than in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire and Pokémon Emerald, while all of the other Generation II and III Pokémon have the same sprite in all five games.
- Every front sprite shows Teddiursa sucking one of its paws.
- Teddiursa's Pokémon Crystal sprite shows its crescent flipped.
- Teddiursa is one of fourteen Pokémon that one can collect foreign Pokédex entries for in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.
Origin
It is based on a teddy bear, and possibly the honey bear, with a crescent moon on it, which resembles the Asian black bear or crescent bear's mark.
Name origin
Teddiursa's name is a combination of teddy bear and ursa, Latin for bear. Its Japanese name may be a combination of 姫 hime, princess, or hi, an alternate reading of 朏 mikazuki, crescent moon, and 熊 kuma, bear.
