Drednaw (Japanese: カジリガメ Kajirigame) is a dual-type Water/Rock Pokémon introduced in Generation VIII.
It evolves from Chewtle starting at level 22.
Drednaw can Gigantamax into Gigantamax Drednaw if it has the Gigantamax Factor.
Biology
Drednaw is a large quadrupedal Pokémon resembling a turtle, with a shell made of rock.[1] Its carapace (upper shell) is brown and is divided into three segments, and has a yellow section around it. Its plastron (lower shell) is flat and pale yellow, with a protrusion near the rear. Its lower jaw is likewise pale yellow. Its head is boxy and has yellow orbs on its cheeks, and a yellow horn with two large sections coming off of it. There is a small hole on either side of its horn. Its eyes are white and somewhat rectangle shaped with small pupils. Its front legs have one large yellow protrusion each, and each of its feet have three white toes. Its tail is long and has two spikes coming off of it.
Drednaw's sharp jagged fangs are powerful enough to chomp on rock, iron, and steel rods. It captures prey and fights opponents by chomping down on them. It can extend its neck very quickly to reach enemies that are farther away. Due to its well-developed muscles, it can move very fast despite its heavy shell. Drednaw are notoriously vicious to the point where it requires a skilled Trainer to fully tame and handle it. Some Trainers will release Drednaw into the wild once they find they are unable to handle it.[1] Drednaw lurks along shorelines, biting on prey that approach its dwelling in search of drinking water. In Generation VIII, Jaw Lock was its signature move.
Forms
Drednaw has a Gigantamax form.
Thanks to Gigantamax energy, Gigantamax Drednaw becomes bipedal. Its tail is longer and has more spikes, and there are three yellow spikes coming off of each of its legs. Its plastron has three protrusions, with the middle being the longest. Its head is hidden inside of its body, and its eyes glow red. Its horn becomes longer and resembles a bowsprit. Like all Gigantamax Pokémon, Gigantamax Drednaw has red clouds swirling around it, spinning in and out of its shell.
Gigantamax Drednaw uses its massive body to crush its opponents, before using its jaws to finish them off. The power of its jaws has been enhanced to the point where it can bite through metal towers. By combining the strength of its jaws and powerful neck, Gigantamax Drednaw is capable of punching a hole through a mountain with one strike.[2] According to one tale, Gigantamax Drednaw once stopped a flood by using the rubble from a mountain it chewed up.
Gigantamax Drednaw is the only known Pokémon capable of using the G-Max Move G-Max Stonesurge.

Major appearances
Drednaw (recurring)
Drednaw debuted in Flash of the Titans!. Team Rocket spotted Drednaw after leaving Wyndon Stadium and decided to catch it for Giovanni. Using the Bellsprout they received from the Rocket Prize Master, Team Rocket attempted to catch Drednaw, only for Bellsprout's attack to hit the ground, opening a hole that engulfed Drednaw in a red light, causing it to Gigantamax. This resulted in Drednaw going out of control and attacking the stadium.
It reappeared in The Climb to Be the Very Best!, where it continued to attack the Stadium, only to be confronted by Ash and Goh, who tried to battle it. Their attacks had no effect on Drednaw until Pikachu became engulfed in red light, causing it to Gigantamax and therefore giving it enough power to defeat Drednaw.
None of Drednaw's moves are known*.
As a Gigantamax Drednaw, it can use G-Max Stonesurge and Max Rockfall.

Trivia
Origin
Drednaw seems to be based on the common snapping turtle, with some of its characteristics being apparently derived from the alligator snapping turtle. Its horn resembles a cleaver, and its Gigantamax form resembles a dreadnought. Its boat-like underside, most noticeable in its Gigantamax form, and armored top makes it resemble early ironclad warships, which were built from the hulls of wooden ships and plated with thick steel sheets.
Name origin
Drednaw may be a combination of dread and gnaw. It may also be a play on dreadnought (a type of warship).
Kajirigame may be a combination of 齧り付く kajiritsuku (to bite into) and 亀 kame (turtle).
