Trainer's Choice is a feature that replaced Who's That Pokémon? in the dub of the Pokémon anime. While Who's That Pokémon was replaced by eyecatches in the Japanese version at the beginning of Hoenn, it remained in the dub for the first forty episodes of Advance Generation. It was then replaced with the new feature for Pokémon: Advanced Challenge.

The idea is simple. Rather than recognise a shadowed Pokémon, the viewer must choose the best out of a possible three Pokémon. Usually, the question is based on who has the type advantage, though evolutions are also occasionally asked for.

Trainer's Choice was initially met with much criticism from the fandom as 4Kids sometimes got the answer wrong or made spelling errors, which was seen by many as an indicator of how little they know about the franchise. The most famous example is their claim that Seviper evolves from Arbok, featured in the Trainer's Choice of A Fan with a Plan.

In Pokémon: Advanced Battle, the creation of questions for Trainer's choice is credited to Lawrence Neves and the accuracy rate was greatly improved.

Trainer's Choice ended when Pokémon USA and TAJ Productions began dubbing the series.
