Manectric (Japanese: ライボルト Livolt) is an Electric-type Pokémon.
It evolves from Electrike starting at level 26.
Biology
Physiology
Manectric largely resembles a dog or wolf. It is blue in color and has a yellow mane on its head , as well as large yellow tufts of fur on its haunches and around its front feet.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Manectric can discharge electricity from its mane to create thunderstorms and thunderclouds in the atmosphere. The sparks can often start fires. Like its pre-evolution Electrike, it generates the electricity in its fur and mane from the friction caused when it runs. The electricity it discharges ranges from a weak shock such as Thunder Wave to paralyze the opponent, to a strong Thunderbolt to deal large amounts of damage. Manectric also has the ability to learn the Fire-type moves Flamethrower, Overheat, and Fire Fang. Since Manectric is a fully evolved Pokémon, it can learn Hyper Beam and Giga Impact.
Behavior
Manectric is an independent Pokémon; it rarely appears before humans. This may be due to the fact that it summons storm clouds upon entering a battle.

In the manga
Pokémon Adventures
In Pokémon Adventures, Wattson had an Electrike that evolved into a Manectric prior to VS. Kyogre & Groudon VIII. Although it held the advantage against the Nincada that Amber borrowed from Shelly, once it evolved and continually increased its speed with the Speed Boost ability, Manectric was nearly overwhelmed. However, Wattson placed his trust on the Pokémon to pin the Ninjask down and ordered a Thunder with it using itself as a lightning rod, fainting them both. However, what they didn't put into consideration is that Nincada produces a cast-off evolution when it becomes Ninjask, and a surprise attack from behind fells Wattson, sending him sinking into the ocean.
Arceus and the Jewel of Life
In the manga adaption of Arceus and the Jewel of Life, Marcus owned a Manectric and he used it along with his other Pokémon to attack Arceus.

Trivia
Origin
It may be based on a maned wolf and a youkai of Japanese lore, the 雷獣 raijū, an elemental lightning creature that can take on the shape of various mammals, including a tiger, monkey, and blue wolf wrapped in white and yellow lightning. Manectric is highly likely based on its wolf forme, while the Pokémon Raikou is based on its tiger forme.
Name origin
Manectric's name can be broken down into mane and electric.
Livolt may be a combination of lion or live, referring to a wire actively carrying an electric current, and volt. The name may also be a combination of 雷 rai, thunder, and bolt.
