In the core series games
Price
Effect
Grants moves a chance of causing the target Pokémon to flinch when using one of several moves. This chance is affected by Serene Grace and the rainbow created by Fire Pledge and Water Pledge.
Generation II
Grants moves a ~12% (30/256) chance of causing the target Pokémon to flinch according to the list below. Unlike normal flinching in this generation, King's Rock will flinch asleep and frozen targets as well.
Generations III to IV
The flinch rate is now 10%. Flinching now works as for normal move flinching.
Generation V onward
Instead of working off its seperate list, King's Rock now works on any attacking move that doesn't already have a chance to flinch.
Moves affected before Generation V
Outside battles
Causes Poliwhirl to evolve into Politoed when traded while holding it; causes Slowpoke to evolve into Slowking when traded while holding it.

Pokémon GO
The King's Rock was added to Pokémon GO on Feb. 16, 2017.
The King's Rock is required to evolve certain Pokémon:
Level 10 and higher players can obtain the King's Rock by searching PokéStops. While normally rare, from March 21, 2017 onward the player is always guaranteed to find an Evolution item when obtaining the bonus for searching a PokéStop for the 7th day in a row.
In the anime
A King's Rock in the anime
A King's Rock appeared in Ring Masters, as a prize that Ash won in the Sumo Conference. In Outrageous Fortunes, Misty's Poliwhirl used it to evolve into a Politoed.
Another King's Rock appeared in A Crowning Achievement, which was found on a rock after the water level in the local river dropped dramatically; Alice's Slowpoke used it to evolve into a Slowking.
A King's Rock appeared in Showdown At Linoone as one of the items Tokin picked up.
Trivia
- Only 3 moves changed whether they were affected by the King's Rock between Generation III and IV: Pound, Gust and Dragon Rage are affected in Generation III but not in Generation IV.
