==Biology==
Stunky is a small, {{wp|skunk}}-like {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} with dark-purple fur. Its face is large and rounded, with a narrow orange nose, orange-rimmed eyes, and two pairs of somewhat "V"-shaped cream-colored whiskers on the sides of its face. It has two pointed ears that appear orange on the inside. A stripe of cream-colored fur runs along its back from the neck to the tail, with a small tuft protruding from the base of the neck. Its tail is raised high and ends with spiked hair pointed behind it. It has a cream-colored underbelly, and four short legs, that end in paws with three small, white claws.

Stunky can spray a foul-smelling liquid from its rear in order to drive attackers away, which is able to reach up to 16 feet (5 meters) away. It prefers to aim for its target's face. The stench can be smelled from over a mile (2 kilometers) away, and will linger for around 24 hours. The stench can cause memory loss.

Stunky (Japanese: スカンプー Skunpuu) is a dual-type Poison/Dark Pokémon introduced in Generation IV.

It evolves into Skuntank starting at level 34.

Biology

Stunky is a small, skunk-like Pokémon with dark-purple fur.

Evolution

Stunky evolves into Skuntank.

Trivia

  • Despite being based on a striped species of skunk, Stunky sprays from a handstand like a spotted skunk, as seen in the episode The Secret Sphere of Influence.
  • Stunky can be seen as a parallel to Glameow. Stunky is exclusive to Pokémon Diamond and Black 2, while Glameow is exclusive to Pokémon Pearl and White 2, and their evolved forms are used by Team Galactic Commanders Jupiter and Mars, respectively. Also, they both belong to the Field Egg Group and a two-stage evolutionary line, and they both cannot be found in Pokémon Platinum.

Origin

Stunky is based on a skunk, likely a hog-nosed skunk. It also bears a resemblance to a cat of some sort, which is fitting as baby skunks are called kits or kittens. Given that both its Japanese name and its cry make reference to flatulence, it is likely that its face is based on the form of the buttocks. Its learning Self-Destruct, Explosion as well as its ability Aftermath is likely derived from gas bombs, flatulence or skunks releasing all of their spray at once if hit by moving cars.

Name origin

Stunky may be a combination of skunk or stunk and stinky.

Skunpuu may be a combination of skunk and プー (onomatopoeia for the sound of flatulence).
