Fire Blast (Japanese: だいもんじ Daimonji) is a mostly accurate and very highly-damaging Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation I. Its Japanese name, Daimonji, refers to Gozan no Okuribi.

Effect

Generation I

Fire Blast does damage and has a 9.7% chance of burning the opponent.

Fire Blast can't burn an opponent that has a Substitute or already has a major status ailment.

Generation II and on

Same as Generation I, but with a 10% chance of burn instead.

In the anime

Pokémon

Magmar. Magmar spits flames from its mouth which take the shape of the kanjī 大(Dai).

Arcanine. Largely the same as Magmar's.

Octillery. ???

Zangoose. Zangoose takes a deep breath. A star-shaped fire blast is then released from its mouth.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Charizard uses Fire Blast as part of Pokémon Trainer's Final Smash; Triple Finish.
