Infernape (Japanese: ゴウカザル Goukazaru) is a dual-type Fire/Fighting Pokémon.
It evolves from Monferno starting at level 36. It is the final form of Chimchar.
Biology
Physiology
Its body is a primarily a brownish-red color, with sections of white fur on its chest, head and legs, and a large flame burning on its head that never goes out. The tail flame it had as a Monferno has disappeared. Infernape wears two gold chest rings in place of a chest plate. It also has swirl-patterned, gold shoulder pads, knee pads, and wrist bands. The blue and red markings it had on its forehead as a Monferno have now changed to a deep blood-red color. Infernape’s scleras are yellow, and its irises are blue. Its hands, toes, and inner ears are also blue.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Infernape uses a special kind of martial arts that utilizes all four of its limbs. Being the final evolution of its kind, Infernape can learn Hyper Beam, Giga Impact, and Blast Burn.
Behavior
Infernape is said to have a fiery nature, and is most competitive when it comes to speed. Being powerful fighters, Infernape test their fighting abilities against each other. An Infernape's fighting spirit is determined by the size of the flame on its head. Infernape uses its hands and feet to pull off special combat moves.

Trivia
- Infernape is the only final form Sinnoh starter Pokémon not to have a unique type combination.
- It is also the only final form of a Sinnoh starter not to be immune to Sandstorm.
- It is also the only dual-typed starter that shares its typing with another starter, Blaziken.
- Infernape has the second-highest Speed of the starters (Sceptile ranks first).
- Although its Pokédex entry says that "this Pokémon is beaten by none in terms of quickness" its base Speed is the 34th highest of all Pokémon.
- Infernape shares the same species name as Charmeleon, Charizard, Flareon, and Moltres. They are all known as Flame Pokémon.
- Infernape is the first fully evolved form of a starter Pokémon to be used by a member of any Elite Four, not counting the Champion.
- Infernape is both the fastest Fire-type and the fastest Fighting-type Pokémon, with a base speed of 108.
- As of Barry's Busting Out All Over!, Infernape is the only Sinnoh starter Pokémon evolution not to have debuted in the main anime yet. However, it will be appearing in DP163.
- It is the shortest fully evolved main series starter Pokémon to date, being only three feet and eleven inches tall.
- Infernape is the only final form Sinnoh starter Pokémon not to have an immunity, as Empoleon is immune to Poison attacks and Torterra is immune to Electric attacks.
Origin
Infernape is based on a monkey. The gold elements in his design seem to indicate this, and his name can also be linked to Japanese interpretations of the character (e.g. Son Goku). Infernape is most likely based off the martial art Muay Thai which uses all the limbs. It also seems to reference the Monkey Kung Fu, another type of martial arts.
Name origin
Goukazaru is a combination of 業火 gōka, hellfire or inferno, and 猿 saru, ape. Infernape is a combination of inferno and ape.
